PaRunk
Hello Affinity Team, would it be possible to add an additional setting for mirroring? I would like to define the position of the mirror axis before mirroring objects. At the moment the mirroring is always centered on the selected object. I would like to be able to use the alignment points, which can also be used for transformations, as mirror axis. So you don't have to move the mirrored object afterwards, but it would be moved automatically when mirroring. This kind of mirroring is possible in Illustrator, where there is a tool for mirroring, with which one first selects the object, then defines the position of the mirror axis and by holding down the ALT key (windows) and moving one gets a mirrored copy of the object. It would be nice if such a function was also available in AD. I will upload an additional video with the function in Illustrator. I came across this missing feature myself and would find something like this very usefull. One way to achieve this for now - in case you don't know - is to turn on 'Transform Origin' and place it where you want to be the mirror axis. Then you make a copy of the object and rotate it by 180°. You end up with the object where you want it but it is upside down. You correct this by vertical mirroring it. This is only a workaround but its very good to control and if you get used to it it's reasonably fast. d. PaRunk
Hello Dominik, thank you for your answer. Yes, I do that all the time, but I would also be very happy if you could add an extended function similar to the one in AI in AD. I'm already very familiar with Affinity's products, but I keep coming across situations where I miss some features that I know from other graphics programs. That is why I am asking this question here. I also know the possibility to draw mirrored with the use of symbols. But that is not the aim, I just want to mirror an object and at the same time to the place I want to draw without having to move the object afterwards. dominik
