Images are underexposed when loaded into AP

Recommended Posts

When I open Fuji GFX 50R .RAF images in AP, taken with a Dynamic Range of 400%, they are underexposed.  They are correctly exposed everywhere else in other software.  It would appear from my testing that AP does not recognize the GFX 50R dynamic range settings causing the photo be be underexposed in AP when a Dynamic Range of 400% is used in the camera.

Picture shows image in Nomacs and AP side by side.  Picture take at iso 500, Dynamic Range 400%

The model is supported by the RAW engine we use, however it may be that and dynamic range applied in camera isn't being picked up when opening. Do you have two sample RAW files you could provide for us to test with. One with dynamic range applied and the other with none so our developers can compare the image data to see if any improvements can be made.

It appears that AP's raw conversion engine is not applying the metadata in the RAF that tells it to apply the appropriate tone curve for the DR400 shot.  The raw file gets underexposed during capture (to preserve the highlight data) and then boosted during conversion for a system like in-camera JPEG processing, or a raw converter that is aware of the DR metadata.

What are your Develop assistant's settings?  Is Tone Curve set to "Take no action" or "Apply tone curve"?
