boza247
I've received a vector file that is 72 dpi. i'd like to change the resolution to 300 dpi in Affinity Designer. I've tried going to 'document set up' and changing the resolution to 300 dpi, but it still prints out at 72 dpi. TIA
wonderings
If it truly is a vector file then dpi is not important. If it is an image that is 72 dpi and you up it to 300 dpi it does not magically improve the photo or is able to add pixels that were never there. boza247
Thanks wonderings, it's an SVG file - so the resolution doesn't matter?
wonderings
Hard to really say without seeing the file as you could place a jpeg in Designer/Illustrator and save as a vector format but it is still not really vector. Again if it is a true vector file the DPI is unlimited, it can scale infinitely and never lose resolution. Could your printer be doing something? Or is there some setting in the print dialogue regarding dpi? I never print from my apps, I use a PDF work flow with a RIP that I just drop PDF's into for printing so not sure what features are there. boza247
@wonderings Thanks for your help on this. I'll keep it at 72 dpi and send to the commercial printer - and hope for the best!
boza247
@BofG, No they are not labelled as "Pixel" or "Image", they are just labelled 'Curve'. There is no 'fx' icon there.

The Affinity Spotlight article Understanding DPI may help @boza247 see why that is true.
