spilledale
My publisher file crashed today and I can no longer open it. Because the file crashes immediately on loading there is little I can do to diagnose or fix the issue myself. I've provided what information I can below. I've also attached my most recent Log and Crash Report, and a screenshot of the missing fonts error message. The only theory I currently I have comes from a reddit thread which describes a similar issue and one reply suggests missing fonts as the culprit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Affinity/comments/8gq0mi/affinity_designer_keeps_crashing/ This may be the case here, as when I attempt to load the file, it gets as far as telling me there are missing fonts (Merriweather Bold, which is listed twice on the error message - see attached screenshot) before immediately crashing before I can load the Font Manager. Merriweather Bold is installed on my system. 92214b01-a85f-49d4-abbe-533bb9af627b.dmp Log.txt
Staff Gabe Posted September 2, 2020 Staff Share Posted September 2, 2020 Hi @spilledale, Welcome to the forums. Can you attach the afpub file in question? If you want to keep it private, you can use this link to upload it: https://www.dropbox.com/request/K8z47gsVSyNhf1Qerrk0

DreamMastR
Gabe, I have a similar issue. I had a Publisher file crash when I tried to edit the sections. I've been able to get the file up and running a few times as I have an autobackup tool- but every time I try to edit the sections I get the same result. Crash- and the file is now corrupted. Should I also upload the file to dropbox? Edit: Not sure if it's relevant, but this is the first time I'm editing the file since upgrade to 1.8.5. Staff Gabe Posted September 3, 2020 Staff Share Posted September 3, 2020 @spilledale It doesn't look like a font crash, but a pinned object crash. Issue logged with our developers. @DreamMastR yes please. Use the same link to upload the file

DreamMastR
@Gabe I managed to open the file for a few hours if I used Affinity Publisher Beta, but then the crashes started again. I was able to narrow the issue down to a couple placeholder fonts that weren't playing nice with Affinity. One font has been removed from the document, but the other (Biko) I can't get rid of, as its part of my paragraph styles. If I open the file with Biko enabled in my font manager, Publisher crashes. If I open the file without Biko available in my system, Publisher opens and gives me the font manager warning. However, upon opening my paragraph style and changing the font from Biko to something else I get another crash. Should I upload the new file to the same place? Staff Gabe Posted September 28, 2020 Staff Share Posted September 28, 2020 Thanks. What Font Manager are you using? I have no problems here with your file/fonts.
DreamMastR
@Gabe I'm using FontBase. But I did try loading the fonts directly into Windows and not using FontBase, to no more success. Have you tried changing the Biko font to something else in paragraph style? I was getting more crashes before, but after making a lot of adjustments, that's the only time I get a crash now. I can't remove Biko from my styles. Originally, about 80% of the document used Biko. I replaced it manually in the document which avoided crash on load, but I can't do it through the styles. Thanks again.
