Charls
New to Affinity Photo for IPad. How to put a drop shadow on a separate layer to allow partial erasing.
Staff MEB Posted August 21, 2020 Staff Share Posted August 21, 2020 Hi @Charls, Welcome to Affinity Forums The Layers effects are directly applied to the object - there's no way to separate them. You can however duplicate the object, fill it with black/dark colour, offset it a bit from the original and apply a gaussian blur FX to it to create a shadow (from scratch) as an independent layer/object. Alternatively duplicate the existing object with the outer shadow effect applied, set the Fill Opacity to 0% and untick Fill knock out shadow to create a second object with only the shadow visible.
