brb2
So does Affinity Designer have a Trim Function? if so I can't find it, unless maybe it's called something else? See the Sample.jpg below, I know this can be done with the Node Tool and the Break Curve, but when you have a lot to trim, it's can be time consuming. Alfred
It’s fairly easy to achieve the same visual effect, but it’s quite messy because instead of simply shortening the existing straight lines you end up with closed curves and a bunch of extra nodes. 1. Select the parallel lines, ‘Expand Stroke’ and ‘Add’ to create a Curves object: 2. Extend the cutting line to create a polygon: 3. Subtract the polygon from the Curves object created at step 1: Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
brb2
Thanks Alfred, but being new to Affinity, at least to this depth, I don't get it. My biggest issue is trying to figure out where things are in Affinity, and exactly what they mean. I have Affinity Designer WorkBook, which is a very good book, but in a lot of cases the Author points out to use some particular Tool, but to find that tool can be difficult, at least for me. For example I got the 'Expand Stroke' in your first step, but when you say 'Add', what am I adding and how do I Add it ? Also, I see the 'Expand Stroke' converts my individual lines into long narrow rectangles. Surely this isn't what I want.

Apologies for the shorthand! ‘Add’ refers to the Boolean operation which is available via the Geometry toolbar: you’re adding the expanded strokes to bring them together on a single layer. 12 minutes ago, brb2 said: Also, I see the 'Expand Stroke' converts my individual lines into long narrow rectangles.
