Affinity Designer: Pattern fill / Noises for custom styles

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'd want to add fairly basic patterns to some of my shapes, such as repetitive circles and other shapes that I'd want to be apart of kinda a material/style which I could apply to my vector objects.

I could do these patterns manually and add them into the shapes by hand, but I find it somewhat tedious since it's so repetitive.

I also know that there's color noise available but there's no option to make custom noise filters for it? Because that could somewhat help with "some" of my "dreams".

Found a solution.

I'm definetly not a "pro" user of affinity designer so it would probably be obvious to most but the solution was:

There's a "fill" tool in affinity designer which I thought was the typical fill with solid color tool. Turns out that you can fill with gradients, bitmaps, solid colors etc.
When I was searching for a solution for this, all the suggestions I found was "Go to layer -> new fill layer". The problem is that, that solution is for Affinity Photo, not Affinity Designer, Affinity Designer doesn't seem to have that option there at all which caused a confusion.

So then you might ask, why just not edit it in photo?
Well, I do have Affinity photo but I don't want to install a whole program for one small thing like that and I bet there's those who don't have Affinity Photo.

Anyway, by using the fill tool on a shape, I could specify the effects and patterns etc that I wanted and then choose "Right Click -> Create new style".
