Applying style in Designer changes font and font size

Recommended Posts

Hi, while working with text in Designer I created a style. Then while working with text using a different font and size I applied the style. To my surprise this added the style but changed the font and font size to the original style. Is there a setting I am missing as I extensively use styles in Photoshop because using 'scale with object' switched off does not work. Transfering the document to Photo together with the style, the style does not create the same changes. I love the Affinity products especially being able to try changes 'on the fly' but find little things frustrating. Can Serif get to version 2.0 so people have to re-purchase/upgrade the product so you can recruite extra staff to get rid of the niggles.

Generally when working with text I would probably use Text Styles, not Styles. But using Styles is possible, and Styles can do some things that Text Styles can't. (And vice versa, of course.)

If you do create a Style from text, though, it will include the font style and size, and so applying that style to some other piece of text will change the font style and font size (as well as some other text-related settings).

It may be that you should create your Style using a non-text object. Then the Style will not include any text-related information, and when applied to text will leave those attributes alone.

Photo should work the same way. It's common behavior across all 3 applications, I believe.
