Affinity Designer (1.8.3) installer doesn't start

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I bought Affinity Designer (Windows version) today and unfortunately I can't install the program. I have already tried all the methods described in the forum (system restart, run as admin etc.), but nothing helps. My Windows 10 (x64) is updated to newest version, NET framework 4.8 installed etc. My system meets all the requirements. I downloaded Installer file few times (in Chrome and Firefox) and problem is same - installer doesn't start.

I tried this method the Affinity installer window not showing FAQ but it didn't help.

I've never had any Affinity program installed on my laptop before.

In my "Temp/AffinitySetup" folder I only have Setup.log files and no SetupUI.log files.

My Setup.log file:

Quote

Trying to start process: C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Temp\AffinitySetup\9154000d-9394-11ea-871b-e86a64587b78\SetupUI.exe /log=true
  Succeeded: 1
Waiting for process to finish...
  Exit code: -532462766

Please let me know if You need more information.

Regards,
Bart

I still fight with my problem and I maybe found something...

Is it normal that when I right click on the installer file I can unpack in WinRAR? - there is information that the archive is damaged. Maybe here is problem?

Welcome to the forum BartCo :)

I've you've tried running the install as Admin and still having the issue, can you have a look at the below FAQ and send me your EventLogs? This may show why the installer isn't working.

Hello Leigh,

thank you for feedback, but I found a solution to my problem yesterday.

I have requested a refund from You and decided to buy Affinity Designer from Microsoft Store (I wanna check this version). The Program was installed through the Microsoft Store but still didn't start.

At the same time my Windows 10 started to update and there I saw that one update wouldn't install - the update concerned the NET framework 3.5 and 4.8. Then I started looking for info on this topic on the internet.

It turned out that I did not have the NET framework 4.8 in the system (despite the fact that when I checked the system earlier it showed that this version is installed). It was a bug of some old Windows update and I couldn't fix it. I had to reinstall Windows, then the NET framework was updated and the program started working.

For people with a similar problem: manual installation of the NET framework 4.8 doesn't work (the installer will show info that this version is already installed on the system), the NET framework will update to version 4.8 only through Windows Update.

One more thanks for feedback!
