LarryP Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 I'm using Affinity Photo 1.8.3.641 on both my laptop and desktop, both are new Dells, 4 months old with i7 processors and NVIDIA video cards. If draw a rectangle on a pixel document and then right click and select convert to curves the layer changes from rectangle to (Curve) in the layers panel but the rectangle does not allow me to change the shape to a parallelogram and the corners and midpoints remain circles and not little squares. Last time I did this there was no problem. I've tried new documents and the same jpg I was successful with previously in both computers. Thanks for any help or suggestions. walt.farrell Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, Larry. With either the Move Tool, or the Rectangle Tool. Go to any of the nodes that are in the middle of a side and move just outside that node. The cursor should change to the shearing cursor, two arrows pointing in different directions. Then click and drag to shear the rectangle and get your parallelogram. (You don't even need the Convert to Curves step.) LarryP Posted April 29, 2020 Author Posted April 29, 2020 Thanks Walt. Doing what you suggested makes a rectangle of different sizes same as before. I want to make a parallelogram with unequal sides like a keystone. Perhaps you can suggest how to and an image as a .jpg to this forum and not as a .zip Thanks for your suggestion. LarryP Posted April 30, 2020 Author Posted April 30, 2020 Thanks again Walt. I tried drag and drop and uploading the 213kb image but it failed, 3 times. It just isn't my day: > ) Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 What error symptom did you have with the upload failures? LarryP Posted April 30, 2020 Author Posted April 30, 2020 I got a popup window with a black exclamation point, a "-200" and an "OK" and "upload failed" Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Thanks. That may just mean that the pixel dimensions of the image were too large. (By the way, did you notice my comment about the Node Tool? Did that resolve your problem?) LarryP Posted April 30, 2020 Author Posted April 30, 2020 The last image was 144 x 144 DPI and 4.3 x 5.5 inches. .. and yes the node tool, which I did not know about works! Also once I had used the node tool the "convert to curves" also works! Thank you very much for your help, Walt. Larry Quote
GarryP Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 LarryP: Just in case it’s useful for you, or anyone else reading this, to know, there’s a Trapezoid Tool that will get you the shape you want (like a Keystone) without converting to curves. Quote
LarryP Posted April 30, 2020 Author Posted April 30, 2020 Thanks for that information Gary. I over-looked the trapezoid in the long list of shapes. The node tool will be more useful in my current need but it is good to know it's there. Quote
LarryP Posted April 30, 2020 Author Posted April 30, 2020 I believe on the right click and "convert to curves" for a shape the node tool previously was selected by default but for me it is not, and a reset did not change it. Quote
