Moriarty48 Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 On my Windows 10 system Publisher has been working fine, but now the Help window does not appear. When I click on Affinity Publisher Help a second icon appears at the bottom of the screen but there is no Help window. When I tried this in Aff Photo, which I guess is a similar system, it all worked fine. I have uninstalled Publisher and reinstalled the latest version, but still the window is not appearing. Any thoughts would be gratefully received. Quote

Moriarty48 Posted April 28, 2020 Author Posted April 28, 2020 Many thanks for letting me know about the online help, it will keep me going for now. I would still like to know how to restore the onscreen help as that is quicker. Quote
GarryP Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 After choosing menu “Help → Affinity Publisher Help”, try pressing ALT+SPACE, then press M, then press any arrow key, then move your mouse around a lot. That might help you to find the Help window if it has gone off-screen somewhere. Quote
Moriarty48 Posted April 29, 2020 Author Posted April 29, 2020 Wow, thanks GP that solved the problem immediately. I have no idea how it works but I followed your advice and the window immediately appeared and now opens correctly when I need it. Quote
GarryP Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 You’re welcome. Glad it helped. That’s an old trick which comes in useful when the title bar of a window goes ‘off-piste’ after reducing the screen resolution. Basically you’re just using keyboard shortcuts to move the window, and the mouse movement at the end takes over from the keyboard. Quote
Moriarty48 Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 I use my PC with two screens and have Publisher open on the main screen. When I open Help the window appears on the main screen as expected. I often drag the help window to the second screen for convenience, but if I close it there it does not reappear next time I use Help and I have to follow the steps described by GarryP. If I close it on the main screen it reappears there next time. Is there any way to make it reappear where it was closed? Quote
GarryP Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 I often do the same thing – have the Help open on a different screen – and I’ve had no trouble with it, on any Affinity application. I’ve tried switching the application and the Help round to the other screens and it still works fine for me. I don’t know why this isn’t working for you also. Someone might be able to help further but it might entail drilling down into the nitty-gritty of hardware and driver specs, which isn’t my forte. Quote
