Hello, i'm new here (and with affinity after 20 years of PS) and i have a  question:

- i want to have a group with a mask for curve adjustments. On this curves i want to have overlapping masks so i don't get ugly edges from different masks. But when i make a groupmask he chops out the underlaying image. I just want a transparant group.  Can't find the right settings?

Hope it's clear, otherwise i will post a example..

Best to post an example so you don't get people wasting their time and your time with incorrect guesses as to what you are trying to do.

Yes, good point. This is what happens when i do:

-new group (stays transparant, thats good)

-make selection

-apply mask to group

Then background is gone...? In a empty group?

Hi Steve-X,

It's the Selection that is throwing this off.  We use the selection as the base for the Masking Layer.

What is the end goal here?  Just Curves Adjustment Layer already act as a Mask, so you can:

1) Create Group

2) Make selection

3) Click on the Adjustments at the bottom of the Layers Panel and select Curves

The Curves Adjustment is now only applied to your selection and will be within the group :)
