As talked about in this post:

Gradients are forcibly dithered either on export or when the layer is rasterized. For a lot of my purposes, mostly when creating non-colour images (i.e LUTs and metallic/smoothness maps etc. for games) dithered images are not wanted. At best they are just a little unsightly, at worst they can make the image unusable. It is also a problem in gradients when working with very small sizes such as pixel art as the dithering becomes very noticeable.

Preferably this would be an option that could be toggled with a checkbox in the gradient display, in the free space at the bottom:

Also, it would be preferable to remove the "Dither Gradients" option from the preferences menu as this only affects the preview of the images, not the actual exported image. Or, if this is a big performance issue (it is in the performance tab) then if a gradient is set to dithered while the option is disabled to display a warning to tell the user their gradient may appear different in the output.

I second this, bit wouldlike to add a different flavor:

The type of dithering should be selectable as paramter of the function (merge, flatten etc), independent from gradient fill.

In my workflow, gradients are already part of a photo (like sky), or i create gradients with procedural texture filters rather than using gradient fills. Dithering should be optionakl / selectable independent from how the colors where created.

My posts focus on technical aspects and leave out most of social grease like „maybe“, „in my opinion“, „I might be wrong“ etc. just add copy/paste all these softeners from this signature to make reading more comfortable for you. Otherwise I’m a fine person which respects you and everyone and wants to be respected.
