Hello, I have this cassette illustration I'm trying to divide (break apart) without the paths getting incredibly distorted. In fact any path operation causes the distortion.

  • I have selected the nodes and ensured no point snapping is turned on
  • I have disabled snapping in general
  • The nodes are set as sharp
  • I have tried scaling it up huge and the same thing happens
  • I have even tried exporting it as an svg, then reopening it and performing the operation on it

What can I do? This is already wasted too much of my time.

Is this opened in Designer 1.8, the update released earlier today or in the previous 1.7.3? If 1.7.3 try updating to 1.8 first and test if this fails can you upload a copy of the file so I can take a look.

I can confirm this issue on Windows 10 in Designer 1.8.0.585.
All of the Geometry functions seem to work fine for these shapes except Divide which puts a big curve where it shouldn’t be.
(Setting a different Fill Mode doesn’t seem to make a difference either. That’s probably irrelevant though.)

As a workaround I was able to use the add operation on all the pieces that would be subtracted from the outer shape first and then subtracting it.... Hoping this will not have to be a permanent workaround.
