Using Affinity Designer Mac desktop version 1.7.3.

Sometimes when I'm drawing, I want to draw a straight line with the Pencil Tool.  I don't want to change to the Pen Tool every time I want to draw a quick straight line. I tried using the Shift key, which works in most other programs I've used, but it doesn't seem to work in Designer. Switching tools kinda breaks up the flow.

After searching the forum, I have seen the question asked a few times and the answer is alway "use the Pen Tool."

Is that really the only way? No Shift key modifier for the Pencil Tool?

Hi twbot,

Welcome to the forums :)

Unfortunately the Pencil in Affinity Designer is freehand only and does not support the Shift Key modifier, my apologies.

You can however quickly switch to the Pen tool using the keyboard shortcut P, then once you've drawn your straight line you can press P again to switch back to the Pencil tool and continue drawing the same curve, or start a new one.

In the meantime I'll move this thread to our feedback section of the Forums for our devs to see and consider - I hope this helps!
