nkp123
Hello! So I've just begun using affinity. Sometimes when I'm opening an RAW file the image on the screen has this red or sometimes white flash over the whole image! This happens multiple times, when opening and closing the document and program. Thanks for any help!
Staff Gabe Posted January 21, 2020 Staff Share Posted January 21, 2020 Hi @nkp123, Welcome to the forums. Can you attach a screen recording of this in action?
Hugo Tak
Hi, I have the same problem! Mostly red lines when opening RAW files from my Panasonic G9. Some times I need to close and reopen several times...

Staff Gabe Posted January 27, 2020 Staff Share Posted January 27, 2020 I wanted a screen recording (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208721) to see exactly what's going on when you open or develop the image.

Staff Gabe Posted January 27, 2020 Staff Share Posted January 27, 2020 Does it go away when you develop it? Does it only happen in Develop persona?
Hugo Tak
Most of times goes away after develop it. But once, they appeared as a static lines, as part of the picture. But, obviously, its impossible to do the settings in develop mode with those flickers... Tks!

Staff Gabe Posted January 28, 2020 Staff Share Posted January 28, 2020 Can you both try to disable Hardware Acceleration: Metal Compute checkbox in the Preferences > Performance and see if you can still replicate it?
Hugo Tak
Hi, Gabe, I've disabled the Hardware acceleration and apparently the issue disappeared. BUT, as you can see on the video below, when I push the "develop" button, it takes more than 20' to do the process... Anyway, if you have another solution, please let me know. Tks for your help! Best, Hugo T Develop_time.mov
Staff Gabe Posted January 30, 2020 Staff Share Posted January 30, 2020 That would be one of the consequences of turning metal off. Things will be slower. before I log this, can you try the latest beta and see if it's the same?https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/19-photo-beta-on-mac/
