We are just updating from Serif X6 to Affinity at school.   In Serif draw I used to export as CAD\CAM so that I can print the drawing in the laser cutter.  However I can't see this function on Affinity Designer.  Is there a file type I should use with the new Affinity designer?

Depends on the laser cutter software but EPS or SVG is probably the way to go.

Can't tell for that specific one you named and other paid/commercial CAD/CAM software (...there are so many on the market).

Instead I point you to a free one here, for your own individual tryouts then ...

In terms of a collaboration and file exchange with Affinity, the common bitmap formats (jpg, png, tiff) and more relevant here vectors (SVG) should usually work. - FreeCAD supports the following for import/export (see an overview list).

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
