GIB Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Sorry probably very basic question but had a look around and can't seem to find it. If I want todo an area on a page with a dotted grid how would I do that ? Thanks Quote
GarryP Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Welcome to the forums. I don’t have a lot of time to answer at the moment but my attached screen-grab gives one solution using a Table, but there will be others depending on your exact requirements. If you can say what you want to do with the grid we can give more solutions. Quote
GIB Posted January 11, 2020 Author Posted January 11, 2020 Thanks, To be clearer looking todo lined paper but with perhaps dots instead of a solid line. Quote
firstdefence Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Drawing a line with the pen tool, setting the stroke to your preferred width changing the style to dashed line and using the settings in the image will get you a dotted line. Then just duplicate the line Press CMD (⌘) + J on Mac, Ctrl (⌃) + J On Windows), move it a set amount in the transform panel and then duplicate repeatedly until you have the amount of lines you want. When the first entry in the Dash formula is set to 0 it will make the dot circular if using round or butt cap style, using the square cap style will change the dot to a square. GarryP Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Someone asked about this sort of thing a little while back and there’s a thread somewhere that gave lots of different techniques with, as far as I can remember, arguments for and against each in different situations. Hopefully someone can find it – I couldn’t – and post it here so people might be able to find it easier (more links between similar threads). In the meantime, here’s a link to a similar thing which some people might find useful: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98993-ruled-text-fields-affinity-publisher/ Quote
