Hey Virage,

As a photo amateur I have been working on an imac Apple computer (operating system 10.10 Yosemite) with Affinity for a long time and had no problems. In December I bought a new computer - also an imac (operating system 10.15.2 Mojave) - and observe the following problem.

Since then, when I save my pictures, I get additional files. First the file with the name given by me, for example P12345.jpg and additionally a file with the name beginning ._12345.jpg. This file cannot be read as an image file and is not displayed in the Finder. Only when I try to view the file as a picture on the TV do I get the mysterious name and the message: View not available. It is a mystery to me how these files are created. I suspect there is a memory problem here

Is this bug known? Can it be ruled out that it is not a bug in the affinity program? Is there maybe an update that fixes this bug?

Best regards

Jörg

Hi Schorse,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
These dot underscore files (._) are created by the macOS itself to store file's metadadata on partitions that don't support extended file attributes. They are not created by Affinity. As you noticed they appear hidden by default on Finder but when browsed on other devices or OS's they may become visible. This is not a bug or issue - its just how things work. Don't worry about them.
