I have a rectangle on top of a larger rectangle and when I have both selected and press the subtract boolean icon, the larger disappears leaving the smaller. My goal is to cut a notch out of the bigger rectangle with the smaller one. Can someone point me in the right...procedural direction? thank you!

Is this possible? Right now, it goes from tall and thin 1 column of tools to 2 columns of tools. can there be an option to have it either? thank you

Well-stated AshTeriyaki I think we can all resonate with what Petar is saying. For myself, I like my XYZ-tool to be 100% focused on XYZ-type tools. A little overlap is good but I don't want that overlap to come at the expense of the core function of that tool. Seems like everyday I'm discovering some new, extremely well-thought-out feature of AD. Well done chaps, indeed!

I have a simple text object with brush strokes inside. When I scale down the text object, I lose the strokes visually; the strokes are still there, but they appear not to scale down with the text. Is there a way around this?

Sorry..couldn't think of a title to neatly wrap this up. Let's say you're making something simple like a waffle menu icon. You take a square, option-drag it to the right, and cmd-J to get more copies the same distance to the right. Then you make the second row. be great if the vertical distance could "look to" the distance horizontally between the first squares you cloned. is this even possible?

Is there a secret to getting a 3-finger drag or swipe to work consistently? sometimes it drags or swipes..sometimes it delineates an area. thank you

I don't see how..don't see gradient fill tools active while I have live (not outlined) type active.. anyone? vcat post script: I now see it; tools became visible as soon as I selected the Gradient tool.

Certainly not, and the way the Dev team have approached AD is clear to me that you're on a vastly superior path.

Here's what I'm doing..I have a shape with a gradient fill. To adjust colors of the nodes, I click once on the node, then head to the color wheel.. now, for one of the nodes, - which all began as gray value, and I changed one to blue, and that node - correctly - kept its same gray value, but took on the right amount of blue. Next node, I picked green. However, rather than that node color keeping its gray value, it changed to the full-on green! #1 sounds and feels like the correct behavior. I am using the color picker HSL, triangle in the middle of a color "band"...this band used for selecting hue, the triangle for saturation and luminance.. thoughts?

What I'm talking about here is whether there's a control to govern how much AD will smooth out or "correct" strokes made with the vector brush? Sometimes, even if I draw an expressive thick/thin line, when I lift the pen, the line will be "adjusted" to be of uniform lenght! that ain't no dang fun! any thoughts on controlling strokes behavior when the pen is lifted?

Actually, I don't want "close shape" because that produces two nodes which I have to fix; they're asymmetrical or disconnected and for my purpose I just want a straight-line connection. the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line...right...?

yeah, that is a deal-breaker for my purpose..

Three reasons I see for people asking for raster features... 1. Affinity Designer came out of the gate with raster tools...people want more! I reach for Pixelmator when it's appropriate. AD lets me "stay in the tool" for a lot of things. 2. Over the past couple decades, the lines between vector and raster apps have been blurred. When I got into this game, everything was divided into "rooms" so to speak, and if you wanted to combine vector and raster, you had to go into these separate rooms, build something, import it, and go back to that room and re-import if you wanted a change. *VERY* cumbersome. AD attempts to remove some of that time-wasting by enabling you to do more in 1 "room." 3. Sort of a subset of reason 2, people are expecting tools to incorporate functionality of other tools. There is no physics law that says a vector app can't have raster tools; it's whatever the Devs build it to be. I am confident that Serif will keep their apps lean and nimble by not loading them with too much cross-functionality.

I have a 1-page resume (my own) in InDesign. Not a lot of hocus-pocus being used, except type styles, which are very important. I'm thinking about either moving it entirely to another software tool, such as AD, or having it in another tool as a...maybe a fallback? I'm getting a bit fed up with CS6 snarkyness..that's the main motivation. My question: has anyone used AD to do a resume, and if so, was it good for you? My top concern about doing this is retaining control over the type..not sure whether AD type styles are "there" yet...maybe they are. thanks! vcat

Thank you to the Dev team for releasing AD 1.1.2; ought to be using it hot and heavy when I begin work today. Curious; with respect to the bug reporting, do we continue to file them same as before, even if the same behavior is observed? I know that not all bugs can be addressed in one round... Thanks for any info on this VCat
