  1. In PagePlus, auto-fill fits the text to the frame. What's the best way to do this in Affinity Pub?
  2. One last question. I frequently used the auto-fill function of PagePlus. How best is that accomplished in AP? I have been selecting all the text then selecting different font sizes. I've also tried pulling on the frame handle, making it smaller then larger. Is there a better way?

  4. That didn't fix it. The text frame was wide enough. changing its size had no affect.
  5. So why is there no page number on the second page of the Illinois District Spring Rally Ride-In? It has master B similar to the previous page. Does it have something to do with the fact that the page number goes to 2 digits? If so, how do I fix that?
  6. When I tried to remove the text boxes from Master A I lost the text on one of the pages. Is it because I used the text box from the master rather than adding a separate one?
  7. File has been uploaded. I apologize for this. I created objects like they were in PagePlus but they don't behave in Affinity like they did in Page Plus. So, I have a page number problem that needs to be resolved. Does a document have to have a master page with text boxes or can it just have the page number field? I also tried to change a master page to delete the text boxes and lost the text on one page. Couldn't find it in layers. Thanks again for your help. April Newsletter.afpub
  8. I did that. But now the page numbers are not continuous. and one page has no page number although the master has one.
  9. Yes, I detached it. But maybe the subsequent pages had no Master page applied? So I created a master B with page numbers and applied it to those pages. One page actually has two Masters applied. So how do I fix this?
  10. Sorry, I did not remove the master page. I detached it as you described. Couldn't remember the terminology when I wrote the post. Everything else was as I described.
  11. I have another problem that has to do with page numbering. I created a master page with page numbers. On one page I had to remove the master page to enlarge a text box. Now the page numbers on the subsequent pages are messed up. So I created another master page, inserted a page number field and applied that master, but I don't see the number. I don't see what to do to get it to appear.
  12. Yes, but that resizes the frame in both the length and width. I need to shrink it using the extra handle then expand it similarly to the original shape. Thanks.
  13. I have started using Affinity Publisher after using Page Plus for years. There is some functionality I loved in PP that I'm not finding in AP. So I'm looking for some help. 1. Auto fill: PP had an auto-fill attribute that would apply to a text frame. Any text in the frame would be enlarged to fill the frame. How do I accomplish this in AP? 2. PP had color schemes. If you applied a color to an object from a scheme then changed schemes, those objects would take on the colors of the new scheme. I haven't yet finished the tutorial on colors (it's 2 hours) but from what I gather this can be done with custom pallets? I assume they would have to be application pallets so they would be applied to different documents. I publish a monthly newsletter using a different color scheme for each month. For a new month I would copy the previous month's newsletter and apply the new color scheme. Most of the colored objects are text objects that don't change from month to month like regular article titles. So do custom pallets work like PP color schemes? Or should I retain a copy of each months newsletter and use it for the new year. Thanks in advance for the help.
  14. Can anything from Page Plus X9 be ported to Affinity Publisher? I would need the Asset Pack and Color schemes.
  15. I only do one publication. It's a monthly newsletter. So I create the one for the new month by modifying the one for the previous month, updating those items relevant to the new month and replacing articles from the old month with new ones. So I never create a new publication. And if Affinity Publisher does not yet have all the functionality as PagePlus why would I migrate to it until it does? I'm sure there are many PagePlus users in the same boat as I. So Serif is losing revenue by not creating an easy migration path.
  16. I am a long time PagePlus user, about 20 years, currently using X9. During the trial period for Afpub I tried importing the PDF of my publication. It didn't work very well, requiring lots of effort to make it right. Any software company that rewrites a product provides a migration path for their current users, especially if they want those users to upgrade. I should be able to open a PagePlus file in Afpub then save it as an Afpub file. Since PagePlus X9 satisfies my needs I'll continue using it until Serif provides that migration path.
  17. I've been a Serif customer for years and never saw Affiinity apps on their web site. Serif is using the term "legacy" to apply to PagePlus and the other apps. So it's obvious that those users are it's current base. These apps are newly developed. Regardless of whether the legacy apps comprise the bulk of their user base or not Serif is still abandoning those users by not providing a migration path. So answer my question: what makes the new Affinity Publisher worth the work involved to migrate from PagePlus X9. I have 12 color schemes plus 12 tables of info, one for each of my monthly publications. How do I migrate all of that to the new app?
  18. In my opinion, Serif not creating a migration path from the legacy apps is a slap in the face to all the legacy app users, which is the bulk of their current user base. Why should any of us buy the Affinity apps if there is going to be significant effort for many of us to migrate? What improvements have been made to Affinity Publisher over PagePlus X9? How do I migrate other assets, like photos and tables?
  19. I also use SyncBack Free. Easy to use. Can schedule backups to execute at regular times. It uses Windows Task Scheduler so SyncBack doesn't need to run in the background.
  20. Can you tell us how Publisher will be different from PagePlus X9? What additional or improved functionality will it have?
  21. After viewing the tutorials I'm not seeing any features that were not in PagePlus X9. So, if there is any new functionality perhaps a document telling us what that is would be very helpful. If there aren't any new functions then why would anyone want to upgrade from PagePlus X9? Also, you really need to convert PagePlus X9 Assets and custom color schemes.
