  1. Yeah well, my brakes are in perfect working order, plus I have a retarder, so I guess I won't be seeing any nuts for a long long time to come. I am sorry though for your predicament.
  2. Ok, this conversation is driving me nuts.....Mmm...a box with 4 sides is a cuboid. Drawn it is two dimensional. Now I know I am sounding very intelligent here to cover my tracks , the truth is I'm stuck in a muddy place and have to pretend to know what I am talking about. Yep, maths is not my strongest point, after googling desperately to find some crude manner in which I could refute your comment and appear to be superior in intellect I give in.
  3. Hi richard, at this juncture I have to bow out. I am not that deep into colour management theory as you are. All that works for my photography is a profiled monitor screen, consistent colour management workflow and a knowledge of the terminology used. If my print comes out the way I see on screen then it works. Since you are also dealing with AfPhoto's printer dialogue I can not help since I do not have this siftware yet. As far as Printer drivers and Rendering intents go, I only assume (from photo printing successes) that if the software is in charge of all print output then whatever the dynamics or physics are at work under the bonnet, these are working fine. How it works I have no clue. All I know is for example, that Photoshop is an independent colour managed environment and any generalised computer colour management settings involved in the general operation of your computer are ignored. Photoshop has its own colour managed workflow that you set up yourself in a seperate dialogue box, and with Bridge if you have that.
  4. X has always meant Close Window/box without applying changes in every piece of software from China to the Azores.
  5. I really hope you realise, from about 10 posts before this one, that this was in no way a complaint? It was simply a humorous observation.
  6. Ah I hate these types of conversations where some smarter than you alec comes along and upsets your morning coffee break with a pedantic stream of literary correctness. Its got 4 sides, and four 90 degree angles - its a box Now what other defences can I muster against this electrically charged super brain at my doorsteps, Ah yes, now this one is so annoying you know, closes cancels potatoes potartoes.......Mmm....let me think....Ah yes, I open the Box whoops sorry Window.....I make a change, but then yes but then I decide NOT to go ahead with that change.......dear me......what do I do now......Oh....I simply click on the X and Close/Cancel/Nullify/Disengage/desist from furter action and Majic, no harm done. Phew, I was lucky there. (A scream is heard from the oak desk in the office)........ Ah Sh1t......he screeches to himself between slurps of hot coffee and a chocolate crumb dropping from the corner of his mouth....Affinity Has decided to apply that change.....AAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............
  7. Did you see something like this, you highlight the word 'Header' in the right box? At the bottom of the right box you see the rendering intent Which print dialogue are you referring to?
  8. Just want to add my three-penneth to all this out of gamut stuff; today for example I had out of gamut on a swathe of beautiful Blues, I switched my soft proof from Relative colormetric to perceptual and half of that out of gamut dissappeared. I usually find that switching from rel colorrmetric to perceptual reduces out of gamut by up to 50% on average in my images. And by the way, on the mac, if you go to System Preferences - Displays - Colour (they spelt it wrong) then select your display profile (mine is a custom one from my profile software for example) then click on 'Open Profile" you will find the rendering intent listed.
  9. Hallo dagboc, welcome to this delightful forum of very helpful people. Firstly yes you can create drop shadows and have a huge flexibility in how they appear, inner shadows and outer shadows to mimic even a subtle black frame. Colours galore and shapes and sizes. In fact Publisher is exactly that To Publish. I would advise though to download a 10 dy free trial if you do not want to take the plunge. We are all here to help and you will find a wealth of expertise on this forum, excluding myself of course. Stickers etc, Mmm, not as far as I am aware. However, there are royally free sites that some members here might be aware or simply snap a photo of some creative graphic of your own and plonk it in yourself, far more satisfying eh?
  10. Ah yes, Mmm... my verocity and rage blinded me to that positive comment at the end.
  11. Ah Alfred, I downloaded and took a big 320 x 123.5 Pixel bite (that was exactly half of this waffle), it was delicious.
  12. Well, I'm in the mood for a waffle and don't get me wrong I think Affinity is a great product - so ignore as appropriate. Within the technical writing environment one of the first fundemental concepts you must learn is consistency in the use of terminology. Can you just imagine the poor submariners in submarine sonar operations if the on/off button on a sonar was labelled on one sub: Sonar, on another Echo location switch, on yet another Bounce Control, yet another Rebound Knob, and yet another Ping Activation? Presets really does have a definitive concept a little removed from Printer Profile, or Paper Profile. Well, as I said, just a waffle a thought a moment's reflection. It took some time to get use to the fact that all adjustment layer boxes where the "X" is top right always meant "Apply" as opposed to 'Cancel' in practically all software products that I have used to date, Now this is not a complaint, No no no - I am just curious as to why sometimes this nice piece of software often throws you with its re-defining moments of software symbolism and terminology? Ah well, back to work, caffeine injection finished, and sorry cBurgamy if I did not help you.
  13. I am afraid I can't help you here because I do not have AfPhoto. I may well be wrong, I think, but my guess is that I find it strange if AfPhoto' Presets in your print dialogue has anything to do with choosing/telling the printer the type of paper you are printng on, otherwise it would read 'printer profile'. The soft proof box with its preset option makes no sense to me. The terminology here is just not common terminology in the print/paper/icc environment that I have been used to. Mainly because Soft proofing papers are added automatically when you add custom ICC profiles or printer papers or printer drivers that include their bespoke papers. that printer presets option surely must have something to do with setting up a custom print environment so that you do not have to keep setting up print conditions every time you print with those same conditions with same paper and sizes etc? Why you have merge delete and reset in a soft proofing environment is an absolute mystery to me I could not find a single tutorial on this aspect of afphoto either.
  14. Ok some questions first for clarity: Exactly what paper are you looking for to print on? I will know if this is a default paper or comes with your printer? What printer do you have? You can not create profiles for your paper unless you have a spectrometer, you have to send a print away to a colour profile company. These are not expensive at all. Presets? Exactly what presets are you referring to when you say 'appear from my photoshop" is it your printer dialogue in PS or your PS drop down menu while you are editing or where? Are you on mac or windows? Are you talking about seeing your papers in Photoshop printing or AfPhoto's printing dialogue? The former I can help with.
  15. Bl**dy H**l -- Never saw that one coming. Drag.....Thanks, that was not intuitive. 99% of actions are click click click. Hartelijk Bedankt voor je hulp.
  16. I think you misunderstand me, I have never been able to even select that eyedropper.
  17. Actually I have been a couple of weeks lingering over how to get the eyedropper tool to actually do anything. I watched the artistic text tool video and well that did not help. I read another post about the eydropper also but that did not answer my question, which is very basic: I have text selected I go to character colour and want to select a colour with something on my page. I have never been able to work this darn thing out. It is annoying when you think it really should be so simple.
  18. Hi, try this then: Go to TEXT in the top tool menus, half way down go to Adjust Paragraph Leading and there you have 4 options.
  19. Hallo Alan, Click on the arrow for a drop down menu, select anything other than default, the box will close, now click on this drop down menu again, this is how you increase the leading between lines.
