Two photos reworked to black and white because the color renditions were affected by the haze present the day the photos were shot.

Saving Watermarks

I closed Affinity Photo and reopened it and now the Brush icon is on the screen and the watermark works fine. Thanks for the help. -
Saving Watermarks

I found that the 'Brush Select' tool is the wrong tool. I can get the watermark to display on a photo with the Paint Mixer Brush but it won't set in place. There is no Brush tool as shown in the training video on Brushes. Any idea as to why that is. There is only the Brush Select and the Paint Mixer Brush icons and it is version 1.4.2? -

O.K. I am progressing. I found the Brush pallette in the upper right hand of the screen after I clicked the 'Brush Select' tool. I then created a new brush type called 'Image' and then created a new Image brush from my .png file. The .png file was a simple text of two words. As a brush it is the moving hash lines. So back to the drawing board regarding .png files. No offense, but Photoshop Elements is a lot easier to deal with regarding watermarks. -
Saving Watermarks

I found the misspelling tool and deactivated it so now I just need to find the Pixel Persona. It is not listed in Help and I haven't found it in the Forum yet. -

Well. I started on your instructions and can't quite figure out where the Pixel Persona control is. Also, I am having a slight problem with my watermark. It is simply Briarvale Photo, and as you can see here the word Briarvale keeps getting underlined as , and I'm guessing, a misspelled word. How do I eliminate that? -
You were right in that I still had the beta version in Applications. So I did an uninstall and removed it. Now all the afphoto files state that "Affinity Photo' cannot be opened. Since I can still access the files from the opened app, I will try sometime to save new afphoto files and see what that does now that the beta version is gone. Thank you for your response.

I have been using Affinity Photo since it came out in beta form. Currently I am using the purchased 1.4.1version. Now that I have afphoto files I notice that if I try to open a file directly by double clicking it I get a pop-up message that states I need a purchased version of Affinity Photo and then my computer automatically tries to engage the App store. These files were all saved while using version 1.4.1 so how do I get rid of the 'beta' tag or whatever is causing the problem? If I open the file through the open Affinity Photo app, then there is no problem.

Manual
japr1949 replied to Oxpeople's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Well I answered my own questions. I found the original directions for conversion at https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/4822-manual-or-tutorial/and the reason the 'Help' conversion came out in German is that there is a seperate folder for English that has to get the 'index.html' file and drag it into the Calibre conversion program. The file is converted, but it is clunky and it really is easier just to open Photo and go directly to help and then read the actual HTML pages. -
Manual
japr1949 replied to Oxpeople's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Somewhere there are a set of questions and answers about making a manual using Photo's "de.iproj" and "shared" files, moving the "help.index" file into Calibre and converting it to a PDF file. I tried it with my purchased copy of Photo and got a PDF file written in German titled "Photo Hilfe." Why would that be? -
Document resize with percentage
japr1949 replied to LetoAtrell's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
Speaking of resizing, Affinity Photo saves documents and requires exporting to save as a .tiff, .jpeg, etc. In the 'Resize Document' box on any .nef file I work on the DPI is shown as 96. Now on Photoshop, if you drop 'resample' and increase the resolution you get a corresponding decrease in the size of the image. This doesn't happen with Photo. How about linking DPI and image size so you can get a high resolution and smaller size simultaneously? And since DPI changes do not change the image size, what exactly is Photo doing with regards to resolution? -

Why is that, and what is Photo acutally doing to the image when you go from the default 96 DPI to anything higher? Also, is this just related to the Photo document and doesn't effect an exported .tiff file?
