Thank you so much Walt. It worked perfectly, and it was very simple. I watched a video from Karen Stone Photography. In it she explains that layers are included in the LUT, but filters are not. Since I had sharpened the image as the very last task, all I had to do was a bit of sharpening and it was done.

I am working with this method. I am ok at "4. Open a new document that you want to adjust." I cannot see where to do "5. Add a LUT adjustment." I have searched for it, but cannot find it. I am use APhoto 2.0.3. Thank you so much

Thanks. I cannot figure out how to copy a modification from one document into an Asset. The help for assets just says "drag and drop" and "import from selection."

Thanks so much, albeit four years later. I do not understand a lot of what is being said here, but I did find another way to sharpen just a portion of my image. I use the Freehand Selection Tool to draw the dashed lines around the portion of the image that I wish to sharpen. I then apply the Unsharp Mask Filter. It only sharpens the pixels inside the dashed lines. Since you say "The Sharpen Tool isn't... a focus tool," can you explain the difference between sharpening and adding focus?

Great responses. I will give this a try. Also thanks for the message about Merge. I could post this elsewhere, but since I do not understand, it will be easier to ask here. What exactly does "Merge" do. I see that it creates an item in the Adjustments list called Merge Down. When I do not do the Merge after making other adjustments, I am unable to do an Unsharp Mask (Sharpen) adjustment. Which then takes me to another item... Why is it called "Unsharp Mask"? Why not just call it Sharpen? And then what is High Pass? What is the difference between the three Sharpen filters... Unsharp Mask, Clarity, and High Pass? Sorry for all the divergent questions. I have been using this for a couple of years, but obviously do not know how best to use these features. I click on Help, and put these parameters there, and I do not seem to get a proper answer.

Let's say I have a JPG image that I make several modifications to. Brightness, auto levels, shadows, etc. I export the new JPG. I save the document. Now I want to make the same changes to another image. Same brightness mods, auto level mods, shadow mods, etc. Is there a way to do this without having to manually make the mods again. Can I save the mods in a "process" file that I can then apply to the different image?

I want to thank all of you for responding. The history in the returned afphoto documents is a bit overwhelming. Let me respond to each of them. I am a newbie, and I have not used most of the tools in which you are quite proficient. I would like to discuss them with you. foto-graphic It appears that you created a "path," which appears to be a bounded selection from the photo. This includes the leaf, and then a some area around the leaf. It also appears that you created it twice, and then left the first one in the history. Then you used the Clone Brush Tool to copy from another area of the photo. I believe you created the path so that you did not accidentally brush into the leaf area above the bird. Can you confirm this please? I do not know what "Spare Channel (From/To) pixel selection does. Can you help me? Transform I do not know, and then one more Clone Brush Tool. After Inverting Selection, so that you can work with the leaf and not affect the bird, you clone some more green so that the leave disappears. From there I am lost, as you create more "curves," and then remove portions of the leaf. Any explanation is helpful. GarryP Can you help me out with what "painting a crude dark line across the top of the bird" means, and how it is done. Did you then use the Inpainting Brush Tool both above AND below this crude dark line? Wosven You by far spent the most time on this image, as the history is VERY long and specific. Out of curiosity, about how long did it take for you to make these modifications? It would have taken me much more than an hour. From your history, it appears that you start at a point where the leaf has already been removed. But somewhere in the process, you have obviously saved the bottom of the leaf, because it appears again at the end. I start at the beginning of your history, and apply several pages of mods that appear to do nothing to the document. Am I missing something? Then I am lost in your history, even though it looks like you have just started. I now see that you did a lot of your work in layers and masks. I have steered clear of layers. Hello... fairly new to Affinity. I like it a lot. I checked the tutorials, and I could not figure out how to do this. I figured there are probably different methods, so I wanted some general help. I tried to upload the jpg, and it gave me a -200 error. So I uploaded the afphoto document instead. In this photograph of a red-winged starling in Cape Town, South Africa, there is a leaf from a palm tree in front of the bird. What can you recommend as the best way to remove this leaf, and fill in the area with the blackish color of the bird. I believe Basil is in the Photo Persona. This is where I would like to be able to modify the order of the adjustments. I do not even know what the Develop Persona is or how to use it. When I try to switch to it, I get a message about RGB. I do not wish to attempt to figure out what this is.

I have seen this written about in several of the forum items. I just cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I have an image, with several faces in the center, all of them are in focus. The two faces on the edge of the image are not in focus. So I want to sharpen just those two faces. The Selective Sharpening Video Tutorial is way too complicated for me, with high pass and so on. I just want to sharpen a corner of the image. I click on Sharpen Brush Tool. Capacity, Flow, and Hardness are up as high as they can go. I paint the area that I want to be sharpened, and nothing happens.

Newbie here. I notice that when I use the crop tool to straighten an image or remove parts of an image, it lists in the history the various steps that I have taken. For example, I perform the following using the crop tool, and the corresponding data is shown in the history. Change mode of crop (to 16:9) Constrain Crop Pan around Pan Crop Resize Resize Crop Rotate Rotate Crop etc. Then, when I click apply, all of that history is erased and replaced by "Raster Crop." It appears that only one action has been take on the image. Is it possible to undo each of the steps that make up that change. If I click Undo (or go back a step), I have to start from scratch. I would rather be able to back up a step or two, like to after I did the Pan Crop (in the above example), and then do the Resize and Rotate again. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Carl. I like that beginning snapshot so that I can get back to my original photo quickly. I had been saving the original JPEG, but thanks to this information, I know that I can delete it.

I know this may sound silly, but I will ask anyway. One might say "why would you care"? But I like to keep my files clean. First, I have "Save History With Document" checked. I have made a number of changes to my document. The last three (for example) changes I do not want to save, either in the document or the final image that I will export later. So I do "Undo" or use the scrubber to place my history highlight in the correct place. When I save and close my document, I want the save process to abandon those three extra changes so that when I reopen the document, the history only shows to the point at which I saved. I have not found a way to do this. I look forward to your reply.

Wow - just eight hours ago. This needs to be added pronto. I need to see a strip of photos to decide which ones to keep. I also need to be able to see two photos side by side to decide which one of two to keep.

I find it hard to believe that I cannot edit EXIF data in Affinity Photo.

You have to be kidding me? No editing of EXIF? What is this, Aftershot? Sorry to be so cynical, but this seems an obvious oversight.

I know that I can figure this out by a lot of testing, but I thought I would ask here and see what I find? I see that Affinity Photo has both History and Layers. I see how each can be put to good use. How does "Save History with Document" affect layers and how does it affect History? Do both of these apply to saving to .afphoto document files and to exporting to JPEG? Do layers get exported to JPEG? I hope my questions make sense. I am obviously a newbie, but I really like the software. Thanks.

I apologize if this has been answered. I searched and could not find an answer. Is there a way to increase the size of the icons on the various panels: down the left side and across the top.
