  1. I keep color swatch books for all my clients. Coming from Adobe, I can just create a swatch collection for each client and upload to Creative Cloud. Then when I need to work on something for that client I simply load their folder and have all my swatches ready to use. I thought I could do the same thing with Affinity's Palette system, but I am running into issues. In order for a Palette to be available to all Affinity programs, I have to make System Palettes. It works, except when it comes to saving Spot colors (I need a set of Pantone colors). When I try to save a Pantone swatch in the System palette, the swatch gets saved to a new Document palette instead. This does me no good because next time I start a new document, I have to go looking for all the swatches. Furthermore, I cannot make them Global. Am I missing something? Or will I have to create an Application palette each time and export that to import into the other 2 programs every time? That will get annoying if I have to update their color schemes down the road.
  2. Oh I see, it looks like they are leveraging the "Symbols" functionality to get the Master Page to work. So if you want to localize a Master Page item on a Child Page, you basically have to temporarily disable Sync. Right? This seems like a workaround rather than a feature. But at least there is a workaround at this point.
  3. Well I re-requested it here: In case you guys want to jump on and +1 it into the light
  4. This is not what I mean. After you apply a Master to all pages, I would like the ability to selectively override those Master Page items on any page it's been applied to. For example, if I have a Page Number on the Master Page but I want to delete it on some pages to avoid a conflict with a graphic on those pages. Or another example, I have a Master Page set up to define elements in a product line that include 10 variations of a single item. I want to be able to override the Name and change it for each item, change colors, and swap out UPC codes. But overall keep the same basic structure. If I can click on the elements that I want to change, it makes this process fast and easy.
  5. How can we tell if they are aware of an issue and have a fix on the way?
  6. Every item created on a Master Page should be able to be made local on the child page. InDesign handles this by CNTRL+SHIFT+CLICK and I use it in virtually every project. The lack of this feature makes Master Pages far less useful. Consider it requested! PS: I have purchased everything Serif offers in the Affinity line, really pulling for you guys! Publisher is the last step I need to quit the evil Adobe ecosystem. Thank you for all your efforts!
  7. I'd like the option of working in Picas as well. Inches are too annoying to calculate all the decimal places. Millimeters are better but hard to convert when working on documents based on inches for those of us producing in the US
  8. I understand that a local override to the text formatting would cause the "+" addition to the Paragraph Style, but in this case I am directly editing the parameters of the Paragraph Style itself. Any change made in that way should propagate automatically to all text instances that are already using that style, such as my example. Just to be sure, I did select the text block and apply a different paragraph style, then went back to the BulletedList style in question—bullets are still black despite the green Character Style override that is specified within the "Bullets and Numbering" subsection.
  9. Screencast attached. I created a Bulleted List Paragraph Style. Then I created a Character Style to control the color of Bullets, turning them green (and dropping font size). I applied the Paragraph style to a text area. The bullets appear, but to not respect the green Character style. If I reselect the text area and edit the Paragraph style, navigate to the Bullets area and cycle through the Character styles there, no changes appear in the bullets. However when I tick the "Apply Style to Selection" box and cycle through, the changes finally appear. When I click "OK" to accept the changes, the bullets again revert to their prior state, ignoring the Character style once more. There appear to be 2 bugs: 1) Clearly the bulleted list Paragraph Style is failing to implement the Character Style override for the bullets 2) Shouldn't any changes to the Paragraph Style automatically appear in all text that already has the Paragraph Style applied, regardless of whether the "Apply Style to Selection" box is ticked? 10. Thank you sir! I did send you a PM, but it wouldn't allow me to attach the files. Here they are AD_Fonts.zip
  11. Man, I just heard back and they said exactly what I was afraid of—the file is unacceptable. I'm curious what method you think they should be using, maybe I can try to encourage them in that direction.
  12. I am desperately trying to escape Adobe's stranglehold, and purchased Designer as an alternative to Illustrator. I create a lot of wine labels. The printer uses Illustrator for all its work, so the files I send need to be readable by Illustrator. I need to indicate where the the printers need to emboss, add silkscreen, foil, etc so I organize my AD file into layers. However when I export to PDF, and reopen the file in Illustrator, the entire structure is lost. I do see the layers preserved when I open the PDF in Acrobat however, so I find this confusing. Attached are screenshots of AD file, Acrobat view, and a couple in Illustrator showing the single layer will all the separate elements making the file unworkable. Also included is the original AD design file. Is this possible to achieve? LV_Cab_2016.afdesign
