  1. Thanks Dan, Are placed images a kind of vector/linear space? I don't see any artifacts when scaling up or down! Because I noticed that I had to rasterize the placed image to be able to apply an effect to it? Regards, David
  2. Hi, In Photoshop I can do Edit > Transform > Scale to enlarge an image on a layer. How do I achieve the same in Affinity Photo? I understand that I can use "Place", but is there a similar way as in PS? Regards & Thanks, David
  3. Hi ExfireworksUser, Did use Fireworks for a short time, it's deprecated for a long time now and not without a reason. I would advice you to develop your web design skills. CSS 3 offers the same possibilities with just a couple of lines of CSS code. Slices are not used anymore! (of course there are all way's some people who do!) I do use Affinity Designer for logo design and vector design and Affinity Photo for images mainly for websites. Regards, David
  4. Hi, How do I make patterns in AP or AD like in the example? In Photoshop named .pat! Is there a way to load .pat files in Affinity? Regards & Thanks, David
  5. Thanks both! No on Windows Remask doesn't function proper in Windows 10, this is what Topaz says:
  6. Hi, Out of frustration because of the bad results from Topaz Remask 5 that I purchased 2 weeks ago I gave the masking features of Affinity Photo a try. The results are overwhelming superior against Topaz Remask 5! Affinity Photo is faster, easier and the results are very good. Contacted Topaz and they say: "It's an old plugin that needs updating". Any one else here that had some luck with Remask 5 on Windows 10? Regards, David
  7. Hi Gabriel, Thanks for logging this! Yes it is an issue because the settings of Opacity, Flow and Hardness are preserved and Tolerance not and that's not very logical! Besides the fact that the sensitivity of the Background Erase Brush changes at image change wile you don't expect it and it keeps people busy looking for the reason for that. Regards, David
  8. Hi, I have a whole serie of images that I need to erase some part from. All works fine but I noticed that every time I open a new image the "Tolerance" parameter go's back to 10 % and all other parameters stay on the last setting. Is this a known issue? Regards & Thanks, David
  9. The only problem with that solution is that the structure of dead brown grass is different from green grass and with cloning your able to copy the green grass instead.
  10. When you take the first example image (PNG) and apply the "Erase White Paper" filter to it the white (TEXT) becomes transparant and you can then put a background underneath.
  11. Hi Lee, Affinity will unfortunately raster text from a PSD opened in Affinity. I hope this will change soon in a future update! Regards, David
  12. Hi Adam, Welcome to the forum! You can use the clone tool and press Alt and Left click to clone the green and then change the brown spots in green by brushing over the brown spots. Depending on the to be cloned material you have to change the settings in the left top corner. Width, Opacity, Flow and Hardness etc. Made a screen video for you. Regards, David Capture 02.wmv
  13. I think you can combine the two like here I use many application together, but I understand what you like about Krita: Affinity And Krita
  14. Hi, Last time I worked with it there was no possibility to use vector text layers in animations everything was pixel. Is this changed? That was a real showstopper for me! I work with Natron and Blender now (free as well). This is what I mean Regards, David
  15. Hi, What tool is used for spots removal in Affinity Photo? I'm talking about some dust spots! Is it the healing brush? Regards And Thanks, David
  16. Glad to hear that you already tested the tone mapping persona. Yes it needs further development and the whole RAW part as well. For Now I stick with Capture One for RAW. You must be one of the lucky ones to got Luminar 3 up and running, because lots of people have problems with it like me. Are you on Windows or Mac? This is what's wrong with Luminar 3 now in Windows: Issues: - Performance is key issue as everything is very sluggish - Both viewing and editing - Viewing a folder with 636 images takes forever to load - Low res images previews populate reasonably quick however they look out of focus - Loading "proper" preview takes ages! and the process sometimes seem to get stuck as edits do not get updated - Shortcut keys do not vork properly - Hitting "C" for crop accomplishes nothing - Cropping presets work very flaky - Choosing 16x9, for instance does nothing - Fiddling around with selecting other aspects can get functionality working, but never initially - Cropping takes ages to load - After having opened a large image, in his case a pre merged panorama, which to a fair bit of time - Selecting Crop opens crop view fairly swiftly but it takes ages to actually be able to crop as software is unresponsive - After 15-20-30 seconds or a minute it actually lets you crop - Closing crop with done takes minutes to update while screen flickers (CPU 100% , Mem 100%) - Updating library preview is another minute... Annoyances: - Library view and filmstrip in edit view have different size for images in portrait and landscape - Depending on mode a landscape image is half the size of a portrait image and the other way around in the other mode - Granted this view type is adopted by other consumer grade programs like iPhoto and Lightroom CC (Not Classic) - You can not change the size of thumbnails edit mode... - Adjustments - Default for RAW develop is lens adjustment turned off and profiles set to Luminare Default - After a about 6 clicks with the mouse this can be turned on - Now copying the adjustments and applying them takes some time for the 600 images... however - Profile setting was not copied! Doing this manually for all images is a lot of usless work... - Possibly an issue? - Histogram is virtually unusable - The histogram is very small and course and not well visually defined - Basically you can not see what you are doing with adjustments (you can turn on the warnings but as it is now it could be removed) - Frame the histogram and then you can at lest see where your image resides... And then I don't even talk about the editing that go's wrong/not remembered, missing search possibilities and the export problems. Nice talking to you too!! Regards, David
  17. Hi, I noticed this behavior with the use of a USB memory stick and reported the issue in the bugs report panel that appeared. Never had this problem with the use of a harddrive in my laptop. This was in Affinity Designer. Regards, David
  18. Hi GinesJJ, Don't want to offend you personally, because I think your intentions are good. But Skylum is a different story for me! Happen to have Luminar 3 and previous Luminar 2018. At the moment the DAM from Luminar 3 is a unstable, unfinished, unusable and ugly part of the application that the users have been waiting for for 2 years. (If they are even lucky to be able to open the application! Check the Luminar forum). Luminar comparing with Affinity Photo is like comparing apples and pears. Affinity Photo and Photoshop are allround image editors (that can even merge for HDR and don't need Aurora or an other $ 100,- app for that and are able to develop RAW images as well but I think the RAW part of Affinity needs some improvement). Luminar 3 is mainly a RAW developer editor and it excepts jpegs too. The Luminar plugin in Affinity Photo gives the wrong results to me and is unusable. Comparison with Capture One or Lightroom sounds more logic to me and then Luminar is a joke I think compare to those excellent applications. Tried it on different series of RAW images in Luminar 2018 and always ended up using Capture One at the end, because of the overall image quality. Yes you pay a little more, but the results speak for them self's. Skylum proves to me not to be able to for fill their promises and are doing a heavy affiliate marketing (for Aurora HDR and Luminar) on YouTube and forums world wide attacking the competition like Affinity Photo, Capture One and Photomatix with false arguments that if you don't know better they are what you want to hear before the purchase off a Skylum product and of course with a "discount". Purchased the app out of curiosity (not knowing their marketing methodes and track record at that time) and keep it with the (false?) hope that a future update will solve all the problems but are not intended to pay for any upgrade before everything is fixed and have my doubts about that happening. Did not discover any revolutionary parts in Luminar (you can enhance the sky in Affinity Photo too with a couple of clicks and don't need "AI sky enhancer" for that). With the superb masking abilities of Affinity Photo you can be sure that nothing else then the sky in the image is effected! And in Affinity Photo you can easily do tonal adjustments and I think you have to see some of the terrific tutorials on YouTube about that. tone mapping tutorial an other tone mapping tutorial In the meantime Affinity Photo is our replacement for Photoshop and we keep an old version of Photoshop for eventually actions, PSD's and other Photoshop related features. Serif has proven to be a reliable and professional company that is not asking for money all the time and can be trusted. And the DAM yes that would be great, but please more looking and feeling like Capture One (we have too) then Luminar. Regards, David
  19. Hi, Natron on Github Now that Natron (the opensource competitor of Adobe After Effects and Nuke) seeks for developers and maintainers to continue this project it is a golden opportunity for Serif to get their own "After Effects/Nuke" application in hands. This is a mature super sophisticated application absolutely not in beta phase. What do you say Serif? Regards, David
