Create your desired background layer, an image or drawing or what ever Take the artistic text tool and write your text, desirable in some big bold font like Arial black or the like When your text layer is on top and your background layer beneath indented accordingly there is your shine through effect Next select the text layer and adjust via the effects outline panel the desired color and outline width for the text portion  
Or even more easier, just type your text in the desired big font on your background and then set the text's...
filling option to none and it's contour option to the desired color and line width

Going to Effects > Outer Shadow should add the shadow effect you can see to the righthand side of your image. :)

Besides the Outer Shadow you have other Layer Effects that may help you get want you are looking for. Take a look at the Bevel / Emboss and 3D effects.

Which operative system are you running? If you bought it for Mac through the Mac App Store there's no serial number. The downloaded application already includes an encrypted receipt file inside associated with you Apple ID. Only the Windows versions requires a serial number/e-mail. There's no need to create an Affinity account in the Affinity Store, unless you are interested in buying the Affinity Designer Workbook. The only other products we are selling there is Designer and Photo for Windows.
If you bought Affinity Photo or Designer for Windows then you already have an Affinity Store account (it's created the first time you buy something there). In that case you should receive an e-mail with the serial number/mail combination.
