  1. Hello, In a recent project i was having issues with export having extra pixels. I went through the forum and got few tips and tricks. But i wanted to know a systematic way to avoid this. How should i approach a work to avoid having extra pixel during export. - Is it just keeping all values integer like height, width, x and y distance. Note x and y distance varies depending on the point chosen. Thanks.
  2. I was actually reading that. Got confused at the middle. I will re read it again. Thank you again for the help. It really made things efficient now.
  3. So after reading this is what i come up to : Creating asset for 1x for iphone and android. Then scaling it up. Is these values accurate for 1x of android and iphone. I got these values from different articles but i am not sure about the DPI. I chose 72 because it was default for web before the changes. iOS iPhone 6: 375 x 667 Android Nexus 5: 360 x 640 (mdpi) DPI : 72
  4. Thank you. So i have been reading on this topic deeply. I realized i really have lack of knowledge on pixel and dpi. Not very clear. Thus i was asking this sort of questions. I really appreciate help from you guys and i am reading from other sources too. Do you have any sources that i can use to get a comprehensive understanding? I mean books or maybe tutorial as well. About OS specific guidelines, ignoring them is both good and bad. Ignoring the bad, good is then i can design a particular mockup with good assumption and then make asset. Issue is when iphone says make out status bar or nav bar this height, while android says that height. Oh, and it differs on each iphone too and some android are messed up as well lol. You see the issue here. I can ignore the text size, image size and keep things similar. But what about fixed elements. It's just till now i have been creating many assets. Doing things right but working hard not necessarily smart. So i am reading few books and clearing these issues out. Once again thank you.
  5. No problem. Your tips helped a lot anyway. I am reading different articles and slowly figuring things out. I still haven't properly get it. For example in one case : A designer suggested for Iphone : Design in iphone 6 resolution. then export to 1x 2x 3x. He said the xcode will adjust things. Makes sense but what about iphone device like iphone 5 or other with different ratio. Will it adjust automatically, this is confusing me? Same he said for android : Design for a medium size resolution and export it to mdpi, hdpi etc using plugins. He used sketch. Make sense. But what about the crazy android devices with different aspect ratios. Do i need to create a separate version. Anyways, hopefully i will figure it out and maybe write about it to help others as well.
  6. I actually understand your point. But with mobile there is an issue with proportion. For example not all top bar or nav bar are similar in proportion. So for a certain snapshot if i choose icons of certain size then once it goes another device it may take more space that usually conflicting with other. Your point is easier to implement on web. I actually follow the mobile first step. I am not sure about cellphone devices though. As its more asset based from what i understood by working with few dev. Either these guys are working in the wrong way. Or there are some technical issue. I wish mobile was similar to web. I mean the way html and css works.
  7. Thank you Beaker. Even though i understood slightly but still a bit confused. What about designing an app interface for both android and iphone? What resolution should i start with? I have actually asked this question in forum : https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/36603-ad-question-to-other-uxui-designers-about-creating-assets-for-multiple-mobile-screen/ Once again thank you.
  8. Hello Guys, Well i have been using AD for my UI design projects and i am enjoying it so far. Some of you guys may know that there are multiple devices with multiple screen sizes. Multiple resolutions which doesn't scale up or down proportionally due to difference in aspect ratio. So how do you guys start the design? 1. Do you create an artboard with smallest version then scale up or other way around? 2. How do you export the assets with AD? (By export i meant efficient way to export multiple size) 3. How do you deal with different aspect ratio? I know that AD has good export tools where i can choose 1x, 2x for export but the aspect ratio for all screens are not same. I started a design for Iphone 5 retina display. It has an aspect ratio of 16:9. So i can use 1x, 2x asset features to scale up or down. 4. But what about android with ratio 16:10 for some device? My strategy was to design for different ratio, starting with smallest device then scale up asset during export. 5. Is this an efficient way or do you have better way? Note this question is not directly related to AD but the question general. But as i am using AD export feature so i am asking here to know if there is some efficient way that i didn't figure out.
  9. That's something big and long term. Adobe is taking that route with XD. The thing is there are lots of good prototyping web tools. So i don't feel exclusively adding this feature on AD is required. Only integration with them is required. But adding prototype feature on AD would be cool.
  10. Update on issue: I guess it has something to do with DPI. When DPI is 72 it exports normal size and for retina normal and twice. If DPI is 144 which happened when i selected device it become half the size for single png and for retina half and normal size. Due to some knowledge deficiency with DPI issue, i can't really explain properly why it happened. But this is why its happening. Also another question, If i try to export something. It adds 1px extra for some reason. For example if choose 400 x 400 px shape when i go to export persona and create slice it becomes 401 x 401 px. Why additional 1 px. It can be resized. It would be nice if someone can explain. Thank you.
  11. It's happening with Jpeg also. All exports are half in pixel size. Do i need to reinstall it?
  12. Another point, i chose Retina Png. The export i got was half the size and normal size. Shouldn't it be normal size and then twice. I exported 80 px 80px icon and received 40px and 80 px respectively. I thought i would get 80px and 160px.
  13. Thank you for the reply. It's not specific to a file. I created a new doc and rectangle and then tried to export. Do i need to do a factory reset?
  14. Hello I am having this new issue where i am trying to export some icons. And the resulted icons are half the sizes. I have selected anything that should result in half the size. I used single png-24 for export. I have actually used this settings before. It was good. I exported icons of 80 x 80 px size. It was fine. Now when i export it's 40 px. Can any tell me what might be the issue?
  15. As feedbacks were given already. I will give some general suggestion regarding this design or any design. - Follow the general guidelines - Use a good amount of spaces. Eg. If you use 10 px font then give atleast 1.5 times spacing on top and bottom. That is 15 px. Add more if it looks good. Same goes for elements. Use good amount of spacing - Use coherent icons. Some icons in your page (the social ones). Some are rounded, some are square. Try to stick to one style. - Don't use too light or too dark dividers. Use a color that is near to the background. Overall great start. And i wish you best of you luck. If you have any question then feel free to ask me.
  16. +1 this or may be integration with Avacode, Invision Inspect etc. I think Simply is probably trying to support Affinity.
  17. Someone just gave me an excellent idea. As the price of AD is excellent and decent. Maybe i can just buy the license for my clients. But i wish AD adds prototyping soon.
  18. Hello wiredframe I haven't tried XD because of windows 8. Can you tell me in detail why you actually hate it? The demo seems excellent. I love affinity designer but i can't use it for professional ui/ux work. I mean i can make a great design and enjoy it. But clients want PSD :(. And there is no alternative way to give them measurements like maybe integration with zeplin etc yet. Lack of prototyping features and plugins may eventually lead me to use XD (UI/UX) and Affinity (Icon and Illustrations). I heard they will add these features. But i can't stop working till then. I would love to hear your analysis on why xd is like a toy. Personally only thing i hate about Adobe is the price. I used to hate the fact they were lacking behind compared to sketch but they are improving. Thank you.
  19. I saw a video of adobe xd. The competition is very tough. But affinity does have potential and addition of prototyping features and plugin features can be killer.
  20. Does the design loose some of it's effect like gradient/shadows when it is exported to EPS or SVG? I exported a design to EPS and SVG. I had a gradient button. I can't edit the features.
