  1. Hi everyone, In Photoshop I change the blending options of layer 2, in order to deselect the green and blue channels, leaving just the red. In layer 3, I deselect the red, and leave just the green and blue channels selected. Could someone please explain how I achieve this in Affinity Photo for iPad, as I cannot seem to find out how to deselect 1 or 2 channels from a layer. Thank you all in advance.

    Pixel Glitch Macros

This is why I recommended the idea for 2 separate channels. 1 for paid resources, and another for totally free commercial usage resources.

    Help finding affinity learning course

@Kagelb - the site is working perfectly. Not sure why you think it is a dead site?

    Help finding affinity learning course

I recommend the courses from 7thseasonstudios.com Jeremy explains things fully, with no repetitiveness, and straight to the point. Hope that helped
  8. Hi everyone. I have a technical question for any commercial printers, or someone who has genuine first-hand knowledge of the printing process. Firstly, let me say that this question is exclusively aimed at dpi and printing, and NOT aimed at ppi and screen display. Ok, so my question is - when you create a new image file, and initially set the dpi to 300, what does this dpi setting actually do to the file? Does it set some kind of hidden meta-tag, and if so what could that meta-tag possibly do that would benefit the quality??? The reason I am asking is that in theory, the dpi setting should be TOTALLY irrelevant, providing that the image is created at the correct size. Let me give an example. Suppose I wanted an image printed out at 5 inches by 5 inches. If the commercial printer has told me that they need a 300 dpi image file, then in theory, as long as I create my image at 1500 by 1500, the image should print out at that size. (1500 divided by 300 = 5). If I created the image with smaller dimensions, say 750 by 750, then it would obviously end up 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches (750 divided by 300 =2.5). Therefore I would like to know the technical process of what the dpi setting does to the actual file itself, and what possible benefit it could offer. The only reason I can see to use the dpi setting, is if you do not enter pixel dimensions when initially creating the file, and instead set the inch settings. That way you would obviously need to set the dpi setting, in order for the image editing application to multiply the inches size you set, by the dpi you set, in order for it to work out the required number of pixels to create the canvas at. Thank you all in advance.
  9. Thanks Mike. It is always interesting and helpful to get other experienced people to provide their understanding on certain issues. Im the kind of person who likes to know exact details of how things work, in order to better understand them Thank you.
  10. Hi Mike, So my understanding is basically correct? In that case, if the commercial printing press is set to print at 300 dpi and the image sent to them is set to 1500, then the image should still print out at the correct size and quality, hence making the dpi setting irrelevant in this particular case, even if it was set to 72.
  11. Could someone please advise me what size the cover photo for my profile on these forums needs to be. Thank you all in advance.

    Cover Photo Size?

Hmm, didn’t think it was that large? Thanks.

    Trace Function

Is there some kind of trace feature in AD, whereby I can import a jpg for example, and then inside AD, convert it into a vector? Thank you all in advance.

    Resources Differentiation

Hi, Is it possible that the resources forum could be divided into 2 categories, such as “Restriction Free”, whereby the resources can be used in commercial projects for financial gain, and another category such as “Limited Use”, for resources which are only for personal use. I am asking because many people here create resources, but some do not state if there are any restrictions, which means that many professionals will probably not use them due to the uncertainty. Thanks.

    Resources Differentiation

Even when someone says the resources are free, it’s still ambiguous with regards to commercial projects for financial gain.
  16. Richard S.

    Resources Differentiation

I agree, but most people offering resources never mention commercial licensing terms explicitly, that’s the problem.
  17. Richard S.

    Resources Differentiation

Why? Only 2 sections, and at least that way, people like myself and other designers would know if they can use them or not. I never ever use any resources from here due to not knowing the licensing terms.

    Tone Mapping Presets [FREE]

  19. Thanks gdenby, not sure why it gives us no option, but I guess that’s just the way it is. I went back to my usual app and did it in about 20 seconds Such a shame, as I really want to use AD as my main app. Thanks for the advice everyone.
  20. Hi, does anyone know if there is a way to automatically achieve these concentric circles, in AD. https://youtu.be/kxtXea266VQ Thank you all in advance.
  21. Reglico, why does that not work? It sounds like it should in theory, but I haven’t tried yet. What result does it give you then?
  22. Thanks @John Rostron, I will give that a try. Just noticed you’re in Essex, me too
  23. I like AD, and they do a great job of creating a professional vector app, but I get frustrated due to certain things not being implemented, and not being able to get plugins to compensate. I want to be able to use just one app for all my needs, so I keep going back to a certain other app. I want so much for AD to replace it, but it’s not feasible (for me at least), in its current form.
  24. Shame, it seems I will have to go back to my usual vector program from now on, I’m fed up of keep having to switch between apps just to get simple things achieved. Maybe I’ll try AD again in a year or two. Thanks everyone.
  25. I want so much to use AD as my main vector app, but I always have to go back to other apps to achieve certain things such as this Thanks anyway.
