  1. After deleting the conflicting file and changing which files are linked (I left "RecentFiles.xml" individual to each system) the error went away so it was definitelly a user error not an application one :) Feel free to close the thread
  2. Fair enough, Which is why that might work on Macs but it's totally counterintuitive on Windows.
  3. @pauls: what are the conflicted versions? I see some files such as preferences (mirkea's conflicted copy 2016-12-12).dat preferences (DESKTOP-OB4CNNH's conflicted copy 2016-12-06).dat but there's also a preferences.dat so the conflicted files are just junk that gets ignored, right? @chris thanks I will try to remove the symlink just to make sure it's not the issue
  4. @Chris I've attached a zip in the OP there's also something I realized that might cause the bug: my settings folder C:\Users\Mircea\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Designer\1.0 is actually a symlink that points to a different folder: C:\Dropbox\Utils\Apps\Affinity Designer since I use Dropbox on both my work and my home pc and I like to sync my Affinity Designer settings between the two (have the same shortcuts, panels layout etc) @pauls I had the beta installed but removed it once v1.0 was released
  5. - have this list: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/16awkjth7hnqztk/shot_161215_144641.jpg - open a new file called "splash.afdesign" and edit it: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/5fs1efmceyrx3oa/shot_161215_144822.jpg - save file and close the app - reopen app - the "splash" file is not in the Open Recent list: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/zjqbvku07dwdgs1/shot_161215_144942.jpg Update: I tried clearing the list and that didn't seem to work as well This is what happens after I press the Clear button and then open the menu again: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/3of7vfa5y5vesv5/shot_161215_145221.jpg The Clear button is disabled but the list is untouched Affinity Designer.zip
  6. Hi Chris. Thanks for the understanding. I would pass it on to the development team that using the right mouse buttons for stuff that is not usually used for (context menus for example) can lead to unintuitive functionality and frustrations. One of the best thing about this up as is that it feels instantly intuitive and natural to people who used PS/AI before.
  7. I go in to do a simple operation: merging some rectangular selections. Draw the first selection, then start drawing the second Using Ctrl, Shift or Alt didn't seem to work. I look at the tooltips and it says "Drag + RightMouse". What? Never before have I seen this combination, I had to do 2 attempts to get it right since my brain was still stuck in the "wait? what? " phase Consistency is golden. Ctrl, Alt and Shift have been used as modifiers for over a decade, having this new and unintuitive selection coming out of nowhere is confusing. I get that you might more than those 3 selectors but that's why you can combine the modifiers (ctrl + shift, ctrl + alt + shift etc).
  8. It would be very useful if I could lock/unlock layers quickly like in PS/AI by pressing and dragging over the lock layer checkbox.
  9. Hi Where can I find the changelog for Affinity Designer 1.5.1? I think those should be posted (or linked to) in the download page.
  10. Where can I find the changelog for the latest version?
  11. I guess this is a feature though it might be a bug When I scale a shape holding the Shift key keeps the aspect ratio When I scale an embeded document the Shift key IGNORES the aspect ratio Scaling an embeded document, asset, symbol or shape should be completely identical. Consistency is crucial
  12. Steps: - make a document with an embeded document (logo) - duplicate and rescale the logo a few times - edit the embeded logo and save it Outcome: - all the logos get correctly updated however in the layers panel the thumbnails didn't get updated Expected result: - all the thumbs should get updated in the layers panel
  13. Thanks Callum, but that only covers part of the whole thing. I want the whole shebang (including panels placements and stuff like that)
  14. Hi. I want to know where the settings for Affinity Designer (panels, shortcuts, etc) are saved so I can back it up when I have customized the app to my linking
  15. +1 for having this ideally as a passive feature Let me use this example which illustrates the problem quite well: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/dapxqwlf118c13g/shot_161128_125140.jpg - I have a rectangle with a stroke color - I want to drag on the color wheel until I;m happy - as it stands now I can NOT see the border color which is frustrating - and holding space is not exactly a good solution: I want to drag until I find a color I'm happy with, right now I need to; drag, see if it's good, drag, see if it's good, repeat until happy with result The way I see this feature implemented is that once an object is selected, changing its properties should hide its bounding box
