    Many of us have been asking for the Default Save to be the Source Folder in V 1.xxx, but we were totally disregarded, even though this would have been very easy to implement (as an option perhaps). I don't know if V2 has this option, and I don't want to waste my time even to try the Trial version to find out. Furthermore, the upgrade price for V2 from V1 is over 2x as high as purchasing V1 from scratch, hence this does not interest me. Finally, Affinity Photo V1 was promoted as a great alternative to Photoshop which is only available as a subscription. At the time of V1 release it was a wonderful option, but at this point, when Photoshop has gained some really very useful features, especially the Ai Generative features(Firefly), Affinity Photo V2 features fall short. I understand that the use of Ai, implemented as Firefly by Adobe, requires some costly high speed GPU servers, which Affinity may not be able to afford. However, many of us who run Stable Diffusion on our computers with a reasonable nVidia (GPU) video card have the power to implement Ai, and possibly other serious graphics users who are not familiar with Stable Diffusion may also have the necessary hardware. I have just learned that the Koi Krita plug-in will deliver Ai features to the free Gimp program, which will allow many of the same capabilities that Firefly offers in Photoshop CC, given sufficient GPU power in your own Computer. If Affinity will implement such a plug-in for V2, I will be definitely interested in upgrading to Affinity Photo, otherwise I have no interest in spending the money. Thanks for reading !

    Re: FastStone - Media Manager I'm quite happy w the interface, but the thumbnail cache size is way too small. It never goes above 400 (Mb I think), and hence, the thumbnails have to be regenerated too often given the very large photo base that I have. I've suggested that they make that larger, but so far nothing. Also, they are way overdue for a new version with various improvements. Normally there's an update once or twice a year I think. Maybe they will bring out a 64 bit monster. We hope.

    I have just about given up on Affinity paying attention to the users. It is getting close to almost 2 years since we have tried to get their attention, and there have been several updates to Affinity and still, as far as I know, no attempt at fixing this issue, hence I no longer use the program as much as I used to. Making the change would be very simple and easy to do, as some posters have suggested. Consequently I no longer enthusiastically promote Affinity on all of the websites that I attend. It's still a good deal, but total ignorance of customer feedback is a stong negative for an issue that is not challenging to fix, since it is an extremely simple interface improvement. Let's face it most companies pay little or no attention to customer feedback, which does not make much sense. Yes a percentage of customer feedback may not be reasonable, but there will be some that really could make the software easier to use, and less frustrating. So let's treasue and support those companies who do listen to customers and consequently make programs better because of it. After all who are these programs written for ? Thanks for you attention, Dan I have nothing but praise for FastStone, an very easy to use, free, Image Viewer (picture, video manager that keeps improving and does pay attention to user feedback. You don't need to read the manual to use it. It even has some simple editing features, and you can configure it to load images into Affinity, etc. https://www.faststone.org/

    It has been more than a number of updates and still there has not been a fix for this request. It boggles the mind that they cannot take care of this, since it is not a difficult problem, just some very simple, very easy changes to the section of the program dealing with file saving. I am so disgusted by the lack of response that I will no longer strongly recommend Affinity Photo on various photography forums as I have in the past.

    I can understand that obvious programming bugs are considered most important and therefore get the highest priority, but in my opinion, interface issues which unnecessarily waste time and cause tons of frustrations to users are just as important, other things being even (meaning some bugs are the rare result of a number of variables causing unexpected problems in a few cases). Our issue affects everyone who cares about it, because it part of the current design of Affinity Photo. A lot of people, perhaps those who are not Photoshop users, may not realize that there is a simpler, better way of doing things.

    To: Craigleeus Nicely done, especially the idea of having the default be the prior setting. Perfect for those of us who want to save back to the Source folder 95 % of the time, but on occasion would like a different folder destination. Very nicely done. If only Affinity would pay attention and implement it. They had an opportunity with the last update, but FAILED to implement it. What a shame, since this type of thing is not at all difficult. No AI needed, no Rocket Science. Affinity used to really pay attention to feedback so I'm wondering what happened.

    Obivously not enough people are signing on to get serious attention from Affinity, but I believe for every one person who has commented that they want the option, there are at least 50 more people who would if they noticed this request. If you agree please get more people to put their voice into this request ! In any case the most important thing about this request is that: 1 Those who like it the way it is (no choice) need not worry that this would change 2 This is not something that is very difficult to do. No major programming project to simply give this choice to the user. 3 The best programs always pay attention to the users feedback, and when possible, with little costs in time, they make the users happy. This vastly improves the customer relation and results in the best word of mouth recommendations resulting in more sales. Everyone wins. Thanks for a great program, Dan

    The Affinity Quick Select Tool is quite good and I find that unlike the same tool in Photoshop CS6, Affinity QSelect will clear out fully closed areas of background (as between strands of hair). However there is room for improvement. For example Photoshop Elements 2020 (latest version of a competitor for Affinity Photo) now has an AI powered Quick Select Tool feature that is improved over the prior Quick Select for objects such as people. In the Edit mode simply clicking on a single Subject choice, P Elements, will generally select the person, or animal quite accurately in an image with a simple mostly solid background. With a more complex background the reliability is less good. A common error is failure with smaller areas, for example, such as the fully enclosed area between hands on hips. Topaz Labs has just recently released Mask AI and while the very first commercially available version had lots of problems, subsequent version have shown improvement. Mask AI comes up with the image painted with red (signifiying background) and the user must outline the object to be cut out with a blue transition marker. After filling the blue enclosed area with green marker (object area to be kept) pressing the process button starts the AI processing. Once again, when challenged with a object figure against a fairly uniform background, it tends to work well, however it takes a lot longer to prepare an image for processing than with Photoshop Elements 2020, which works with a single click. I and many other happy users of Affinity Photo, would very much love to have an improved Quick Select Tool, which probably means, one that is based on AI, since that technology appears to results in some amazingly capable competence. So this comment is simply to let everyone who is interested keep up to date with the latest technological advances and hope that Affinity Photo will also create improvements for this tool and do it even better than the competition.     The most important idea is to allow the USER to set this as her/his preference. That way everyone would be happy to be allowed to work the way they want, without the frustration of wasting time browsing to set the desired output folder.

    Out of 10 sessions using Refine Affinity Freezes 3 or 4 times with mouse still able to move, but cannot choose any option, cannot save file, cannot exit. Prior version never did this. HP 840 Workstation Windows 10, Quadro M4000, 72 Gb RAM

    I refuse to go to the Adobe Photoshop Subscribe option and keep using Photoshop CS6 and now Affinity Photo, but I can't help learning from youtube videos (PixImperfect for example) that the latest version of PShop CC has a vastly improved Selection Tool powered by AI. Not only is it more intelligent, but it does a far better job with fine wispy hair. I really like Affinity Photo, not only because a lot of the interface is similar enough to PShop so I can immediately use Affinity Photo right away, but also because it does some things far better. I won't even mention that Affinity treats customers far better, as clearly evidenced by the affordable price and constant improvements. I recommend Affinity Photo to anyone who listens, and also got the iPad version for myself. Topaz Labs has done some amazing things with their AI Gigapix and I would love to see Affinity Photo also begin to use AI to improve many aspects of image editing. Thanks for the Great Work ! Dan

    When you are REFINING a selection and switch to Move (Palm Icon) by holding the Spacebar, the Selection Icon should return to indicate you are no longer in Move mode. But in fact it does not, although the change has taken place. If you press [ or ] to change the size, while showing the non-current Palm icon (after you let up on the Spacebar, it will then correctly show the Selection Icon changing size. It's not a huge major issue, because the Function Does Change, but more a matter of a bit of insufficient Beta testing perhaps. The first time you encounter the problem you worry, but once you realize that other than the Icon Shift, it works OK you don't worry.

    I thanked the person who posted a direct link to the store. The link solution worked for me but I keep getting mail everytime anyone posts in this thread and see no way to disable all these unecessary emails. I guess you can only do that with a new post. So that's what this is.
