By the way, does anyone have any idea how much Affinity full Publisher will cost when it's up and running.

Hey René van Elst,
To delete a text frame, you need to have the Move Tool (V) selected or use the Layers Panel to select the text layer and hit the trash can icon. I'm not sure what you mean by 'it reappears' though, could you elaborate?. We're doing things slightly different to PagePlus so things will be a little different

Having deleted all the linked text in a document I found that the only way I could find of deleting the frames remaining was by going to each page in the Layers dialog, right clicking each text layer and deleting that one. I had to do that for every page. There must be a better way than this, isn't there?
