  1. Because the linked file contains my game assets, so when I update my game assets the cover art updates automatically 😉
  2. Not sure why I did not think about this myself, but adding a fill layer on the bottom of the layer stack fixed the problem! It's an elegant solution, thank you.
  3. Hi, I have this image exported 2 times. The export on the left is a JPG export while the export on the right is a PNG export. No matter which settings I use for the PNG export, there is always a visible grid. This grid you are looking at comes from somewhere: I filled the artboard with bordering squares in each direction, like this: This grid should not be visible in the export however, as it is not visible in Designer while I'm editing. I have been working with variants of this image with the same background setup since version 2.4.0 and I have not encountered this problem before. This square is a linked file set in resource manager by the way. Can this be related to the new 'primaries' and 'transfer function' settings I'm seeing in advanced PNG export settings?
  4. Came here from search engine, bumping because I am seeing the same problem in 2024.
  5. Hi everyone, At this moment, when you go to export persona and generate slices from all layers and export them, this exported file will not have any adjustment layers that may be sitting at the top of the layer hierarchy applied to it. Similarly, if you make a group of all layers, apply a layer effect to this group and create a slice of every layer within this group, the layer effect is not applied to any of the slices. When you manually create a slice with the slice tool, adjustment layers and layer effects ARE applied, however. Manually creating slices is suboptimal in a number of ways: It takes a lot of time as opposed to simply selecting layers and pressing the 'create slice' button. Variation in slice dimensions as well as the positioning of its contents between iterations might be problematic and is unavoidable. My suggestion for an elegant solution to this limitation would be to have a toggle button in the slices tab next to the 'Continuous' toggle that says 'apply global adjustments' (or something more catchy than that), which does exactly that when you export slices. More info in this thread:
  6. Hey, I appreciate your time and effort a lot! Since it seems this is a software limitation we are bumping in to, I'm creating a feature request post on the forums.
  7. Right? The shape disappears as soon as I create a symbol of the adjustment layer. It's weird and I have no explanation for it since it works with images, and it almost feels like unintentional behaviour. As @v_kyr mentioned that would indeed be a solution, but it is not for me. Because I import every slice in an animation program afterwards, the size and positioning of these slices is essential and this is lost when I do it manually. That's a bummer.. I have still not found a solution for my use case and since the both of you appear to have a lot of experience with the software, as of now "waiting for Godot" seems to be the only option I have.. To me, there should be no difference in the end result between manually creating slices and auto creating them, but there is, and from looking at older posts on the forum this is listed as 'intended behaviour'. I strongly disagree with this because from a user experience point it make no sense, but I'm not sure where to go from here at this point.
  8. This looks like a powerful feature that will come in handy quite often, thank you! Any chance you could show an example with a recolor adjustment layer that applies to a group of vectors instead of an image? I'm still struggling with the small differences in workflow between Designer and Illustrator when it comes to applying adjustment layers to a set of layers..
  9. Hi everyone, I'm learning Affinity Designer on the trial version as I'm looking for an illustrator replacement, and I have a question regarding exporting. I have an adjustment layer at the top of the layer hierarchy as well as layer effects applying to the group encompassing all layers. I would like to export slices with both the adjustment layer and layer effects applied to each slice. What would be the best way to do this while maintaining flexibility? I searched for this problem online so I know it has been asked before, but there was no answer apart from this: 'Apply the adjustment layer and layer effects to each group seperately'. I would like to avoid this however, since it would cost a lot of time to make an adjustment afterwards. What would be your workflow to tackle this problem? Thanks in advance!
  10. Hmm I hope a built-in vectorizer is a feature in a future release. Would be great to vectorize my hand drawn raster images within Designer. Thanks again for the helpful replies everyone!
  11. Makes sense, what would be the quickest way to convert the image to a vector though? I tried right clicking and 'convert to curves', but that doesn't seem to account for transparency either, if I pick a color the whole bounding box changes color.
  12. I see, thank you again! I will stick to the previous method as I need the LAB color space and it doesn't look like a recolor adjustment layer supports alternative color spaces, but it's good to know that the option exists!
