  1. Thanks NotMyFault , So i did Undo to the point where it said “Undo Transform” which revert it to the correct state. I don’t understand what kind of transform I accidentally did there. yes I use artboards.
  2. So, all of the sudden I noticed that all my vector layers are distorted/skewed and don’t lie on the isometric grid anymore. how is this even possible? I checked the shear option but it’s at 0.0.
  3. Beautiful examples! Good call on the Stone Age PC! Shocking to say the least. I got the M2 iPad because of designer 😒
  4. Hope so. Still, I am wondering if the developers take my post seriously.
  5. Well, the information provided is quite good/ important to know ( although I wish I had it yesterday) ! I didn’t know about the sandbox. Due all respect, from your text I kinda read that you see the issue being the user when there is definitely an issue with the app. It’s not about my workflow as I didn’t do anything but open / close the file. As you can read from my post, my file got replaced by a clone of an old file! When I then renamed one, the other also renamed. That alone is an indication for a software issue. When I moved one of the files into a folder, designer crashed and the clone disappeared. Also, as you can see in the image, there is the loading icon, which was the constantly, indicating some conflict. I am actually surprised on how designer handles this whole saving topic. With Blender and all the other 3D software and apps I am using, I never lost more than a minute of work. i never had to worry about whether my files are properly saved or not. They all save iterations of the project in the same folder where the Mai project is located. As simple as that. So pardon me when I disagree with your recommended workflow. where is the sandbox file located? does designer have a log file? There should be some clues in a log file on what happened.
  6. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed! I think I just lost weeks of work. No, I didn’t back up. Why? Because frankly I have never had any issues on the iPad. Also, all other vector apps do store on the iCloud. My mistake was to assume that Designer does the same. Incidentally, the option to choose iCloud seems gone in V2. so here is what happened: Last night, when I closed my document and opened very old version, then closed that one, the previous project got somehow overwritten with my second project i opened. I now have two duplicates! One of them is constantly showing the loading symbol. what the heck just happened??? Edit: After further investigation it am pretty sure this is a severe bug! The document isn’t overwritten. Designer seems to see the same file twice. I renamed one and it renamed the other one as well. I moved one into a folder, and Designer crashed. When loaded Designer back up, the dubios clone was gone leaving me with only the old version of my project. image before the crash:
  7. Hi, a bit nervous! i imported an svg into my document, but it behaved like an image. So I double clicked it and suddenly it seemed like it opened a new document with the svg being editable. All of my existing vector disappeared. I don’t know what happened and dont want to go back to the gallery until I know what’s going on. quick response would be appreciated EDIT: ok, I experimented in AD v1 and found out how it works. Never mind.
  8. Well, your reply makes this post worthwhile 😀 so it’s not just filling up the internet. Porn and fake news is! Lol I agree with you. i am curious what kind of complex work you are doing. Mind showing something? i wonder if there is a way to reduce the quality of layers we are not working on. Sort of like a proxy mode. i come from the composting sector where tasks are much more power hungry than vector graphics. In Order to handles crazy expensive projects there is a auto proxy mode. It greatly reduces the quality of the image for purposes of checking animation or timing. I could see something like that working in a vector drawing app. or perhaps a temporary “bake layers” while working on a specific one. in music production they call it “bouncing a track”. When using a dozen of CPU hungry software instruments, they temporarily bounce them to disk as waveforms. Which forum is best for this discussion?
  9. Ok, I have to take it back. Checked out v2 more in-depth and upgraded! can’t wait for the next version.
  10. While you at it, can you please add a hot-key for quickly turning grid on/off? The current hot key brings up the grid panel. 😃
  11. I just used the trial of V2… although it seems a tiny bit better, still not a smooth experience. Also, I kinda dislike the new UI. Don’t understand why they changed it so much when the user experience is not gaining much. Are those changes based on user wishes? I would gladly pay for a good upgrade, but for V2 I have to pass. The knife tool is probably the only thing I am interested in. Guess I’ll have to continue in Inkscape.
  12. Hey Mike, Thanks for taking the time. I actually upgraded from a 3rd generation iPad Pro. But to be honest it feels more like an upgrade from or to the M1 ( I can’t really say cause I don’t own one) Admittedly, it’s hard to discuss this without having insight into my file. I probably have somewhere around 150 layers ( is there no info/statistic?) ** Would be nice to have a debug mode where we can see which layers have the greatest impact on performance. ** That being said, many layers use multiple FX. I assume FX are expensive but unfortunately there is no way around them. Rasterizing them also is out of the question because the resolution is not high enough. Is there a way to change that? Read somewhere it depends on the documents DPI? FX, like bevel and 3D could be avoided with additional vector features like extrude. I can’t believe that the o my software that has an extrude tool is Adobe’s and Inkscape. If I wished for a feature during my current project, it would be extrude hands down. Speaking of 3D FX, this effect needs to be updated so it can be used I isomeric workspace. Sorry for drifting. To get back to my document, I also use Symbols ( instances) , which btw, I have no idea why it’s called symbols. The really annoying issue is that when I try to move points ( nodes) , the action is delayed a whooping 1-3 seconds. With my previous iPad it was like double the time. So that I said that this feels more like an upgrade from or to an M1. It also takes a while to render the layer thumbnails/ previews. I need to point out that I am not using AD version 2 since I am uncertain if it’s justified to pay for basically the same software. What’s your take on that Mike?
  13. Not sure if this is the right forum channel for this question. although designer runs much faster on my iPad M2, I still feel that it’s not optimized. Also, with the new pencil however feature I can’t add nodes with the pen anymore. I need to use my finger.
