Unfortunatly nothing happend so far yet. The only workaround is still as mentioned to load unassigned alpha channel and then you are good to go. I also hope they get it fixed in the next update...

Yes we hope so, it is not fixed yet version 2.0.3. But I might have found a solution at least for now. I have found out that there is a line in channels that says "not assigned alpha-channel" (why should that be?). When I right-click on that channel and select "load alpha in background" I get the alpha working and I can toggle alpha on and off. As you mentioned every thing else works fine but opening .tif file with trans background does not, at least not coming from e.g. Blender. After saving .tif in AP with trans Background it works when reopen. Even placing works...

Hi Walt Farrell Thank you for your post. My case is not creating and exporting a .tiff from Photo. It is importing or opening a .tiff from another application (in my case Blender 3D) with transparent RGBA into Photo2 what worked like charm in Photo1. When I have edited in Photo2, saved and reopened it works. I am also on Windows. Strange enough it works when placing but not when opening. Png also with transparency, exact same procedure, works. So I suppose there is something wrong with the .tiff opening. See my solution in previous post. Cheers

Hi lukchw I might have found a solution at least for now. I have found out that there is a line in channels that says "not assigned alpha-channel" (why should that be?). When I right-click on that channel and select "load alpha in background" I get the alpha working and I can toggle alpha on and off. It is important that the file is in RGBA with transparency. Placing a file with RGBA works on my side. I find it strange, that the alpha channel is empty and showing a black background when opening (while it worked in Photo1 without further ado!). Also the toggle Button does nothing unless I do what mentioned above. When I create a .tif file (in my case with Blender) with transparency I am doing that with the purpose of having a transparent background. Then I can fill or not my background as I like without having to mask out or whatnot. Also when opening the file in Designer the backgound is black with no chance to get the alpha working unless I switch over to Photo do the workaround and get back to Designer. Very annoying when working with like 70 files on a projekt as I do right now. I hope Affinity reads this and approves the behavior as bug and it will be solved with next update. @Affinity ...but else thank you for a great alternative to Adobe. I have also posted the same question in "Photo2 bugs found on windows". I hope this helps ;o) Cheers

Composit alpha (channels) not working with .tif files (Photo2)
DaQuizz replied to DaQuizz's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Hi ARTurek, Thank you for the reply. My case was not creating a file in Photo but in Blender and open it in Photo for further editing. I just wondered because it worked like charm in Photo1 without further ado. Now I have found out that there is a line in channels that says "not assigned alpha-channel". When I right-click on that channel and select "load alpha in background" I get the alpha working. Then delete the not assigned alpha and save (not save as, just save) and I get my .tif working. Sort of a workaround that was not needed in previous Version. If I now want to have my .tif with transparent background usable in Designer (because it also shows up there with black background) I have to go this extra step via Photo. No big deal if it is only one file but I am working on like 70 files from Blender for one project what makes quite a difference. Strange enough "placing" works fine but "open" doesn't. As I said in Photo1 or Designer1 this all wasn't necessary. BTW after editing the file in Photo2 and reopen it wherever there is no issue. Anyways thank you for the input. Cheers -
Hi guys I am opening a .tif file with transparent background in Photo 2 and the background shows black whereas it showed transparent in Photo 1. Cannot show or hide alpha in channels composit alpha. (worked in Photo 1.10.5) The file was rendered out in Blender with transparent background RGBA. Opening in Designer is the same. Worked in Designer 1 (transparent) but not in Designer 2 (black). I know we cannot work on channels in Designer. Doing the same with a .png file works on all sides. Is this a bug or do I miss something? The strange thing is it is not working when opening but works when placing. Cheers
