  1. I've read all the pages, and I'm going to add my voice in the mayhem. If you want an early quick TL;DR, it's pretty much the same opinion as the crushing majority of what has been expressed. I've been faithfully using Affinity Designer/Photo for 4 years, almost daily to draw on it. The brush engine was solid enough and the versatility of being able to switch seamlessly between Photo/Designer made me stay, even if I knew there could have been better options. The lack of subscription meant that I could store the installer on my backup HDD and be able to open my project files anytime I want. I bought the V2 instantly when it came out. Despite the little quirks like the smudge tool issue - which I reported a few months ago, the unwieldy liquify tool and some lacking features, I was still very happy using your software for its great UI, the incredible versatility, the non-destructive features and the good brushes made by Frankentoon. I even spread the word to artist friends to give it a try. I've never considered it to be the "cheaper Adobe alternative" but a real, solid suite of software to rely on. The acquisition by Canva is a sign of doom for me. I've been skeptical at first but reading more and more into that organization just killed any hope I could have. Canva already acquired good stuff before and closed them. They made an 1 billion $ offer (!) for your society that "only" made 31 millions $ in 2022. Aka major expectation to get that money back by all possible (and shitty) means. Canva is a venture capitalist-funded company and is preparing itself to go public. Aka incentive to put profits above all else. The deal was offered and acted within a single digit amount of weeks. Which is understandable given the big bag of money put on the table, but is a red flag for the users. I don't mind AI as much as the others, it's a controversial tool but a tool regardless. But I fear the massive enshittification that will ensue, the data steal collection, as well as the legitimate dread of the inevitable subscription-based service that will come. I do understand that profit is the incentive for Serif, but our incentive is a quality software we can rely on. If this is not met, then why stay ? Our loyalty is only bound by the reliability of your reputation, and it's now at stake. Like others, I understand why you shook hand with Canva. But I hope you'll understand why, us users, will go elsewhere. I feel sadness over it, as if everything amounted to a waste. It's the end of an era for me. I've grown as an artist with Affinity, and I will keep preciously the V2 to continue drawing on it. I'll even buy the V3 if it's still a "Pay once, keep forever" that isn't too intrusive, even if a sub is offered on the side like CSP. Simply to encourage you to stay true to yourself and show your new owners that it's the way to go. But otherwise, I'm ready to say goodbye to you, with heavy heart. And thank for the awesome experience of discovering the marvelous possibilities of Affinity.
  2. Hello ! As I use the smudge brush more and more often, I encounter an issue I have since I started using Affinity, 3 years ago. This tools is very unreliable as it tend to scrap off the paint off the layer rather than spread it out when you use a pen. In the first screenshot, I provided the following, from left to right : - The brush used for the smudge. Solid round brush with a size jitter at 90%. Settings in the second screenshot. - The smudge tool used with a pen at high strength (80%) on top, low strength (40%) on bottom. - The same smudge tool used with my mouse. High strength on top, low strength on bottom. The issue isn't present here. I use Huion Kamvas Pro 20 and the latest version of Affinity. I tried the following : Different values of flow and strength affect the intensity of the scrapping, but it's still present especially if I apply a high pressure. Strength has way more impact than flow. Using textured brushes somehow lessen the undesirable effect by a lot, it's what I use currently while waiting for a fix but the scrapping is still slightly visible at high strength/high pressure (Third screenshot) Using other solid brushes range from similar to worse. Especially the basic brushes that come by default. Changing the Tablet Input Method or turning on/off the hardware acceleration does not fix the issue. The Force Pressure button does not fix the issue. Did those in Affinity Photo, but Affinity Designer has the same issue. Tried with another drawing software, the issue isn't present. The issue has been reported before, here, although it's been a while. Thank you for taking attention to my issue !
  3. It helped. Still reinstalled a fair amount of brushes (200 to 300 of them ?). All of them linked and it works fine now. I do think stamps or very high resolution textured brushes were the culprit since they're the heaviest. I avoided them this time.
  4. Then the solution will be to clean up my brush folders. Not really a problem in the end since I do have a lot of redundant brushes I don't even use. Kinda solved, I guess ? Until optimization come around. I do admit it can be my fault, having pushed the system to the extreme. Thank you for your help everyone.
  5. Nope, it happens even when only one of them is open - Which is the common scenario when I try to touch brushes. Since it's relevant, I add that Affinity is installed on an SSD.
  6. This is the raster_brushes.propcol, at 4,47GB. Around 450mb for vector_brushes.propcol. I can already tell it's big but it's not a surprise since I do have a lot of brushes. It is likely the root of the problem. Kinda, since the number didn't dramatically increase from V1 to V2 and it was working fine then. Perhaps the new link feature worsened it ? I could make a cleanup since I don't use most of them and I have a backup .afbrushes of all of them.
  7. No change with HA on or off, alas. Here's the dump file I created for you, while It was loading upon trying to edit a brush, @Chris B It's quite heavy and doesn't fit into the forum's integrated uploader so here's a GDrive's link : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cqXrk-dkiCM9jWHLtMoNuz13995rJSYk/view?usp=sharing
  8. Hello over here, I have a recurring and persistent issue since V2 (didn't have that issue with V1) : Everytime I try to move/copy/edit a brush, the whole software freeze. It can take up to 5/10min to move a single brush with everything frozen in the meantime. Most of the time, I just force close the software because of how long it can take. It happens everytime I do it, on both Photo and Designer. Perhaps a bit quicker when the software is freshly started but it isn't reliable. My computer is beefy (RTX3070/I7 10700K/64gb RAM) so it isn't a performance issue. Perhaps it is tied, but I have a lot of custom brushes. Most of them are linked.
  9. This effectively solved the issue, thank a bunch my friend !
  10. Hello there, I encountered an issue : I did export my assets from V1 to V2 and it worked well at first. But now, the asset panel refuses to simply work. It is completely empty, I cannot import any .asset files I had as backup ("Unable to import file"), and I cannot create a new category. The issue is shared across Affinity Photo and Designer and I have no idea how to fix it.
  11. 1- Better brush engine. 2- Live Warp filter for Photo & Designer 3-Better Layer panel.
  12. I also have my little disappointment over V2 - and good surprises too, I expected some features for a long time now and they delivered. However I did not buy the V2 for its immediate features, but for the support it will get over the year. And Serif was always pretty good with updates. The current discount + the universal license is good enough for me to buy it immediately and wait for further features. I do hope for some more, especially a better warp ! I consider V2 as a baseline for their future improvements. If you don't like Affinity 2's current state, just wait. Serif is pretty generous with discounts and another one will come by later.
