  1. Thank you. Now there is a lot to think about.
  2. Can I choose to add a suffix to the page numbering – a mark, that will follow each pagenumber through out the book and to be shown in the index? – Could be like this: 1A, 2A, 3A etc.
  3. The help menu says Merge: "In Affinity Publisher, you can add a section, selected pages, or all pages of another Affinity Publisher document to your current document." So I should be able to import indexes from different files into one new file. I would not be as automatic as I wanted. But it would bring me a part of the way. Other similar ideas?
  4. I would like to do the following: I have created five songbooks in Publisher. Each song has a title that goes in the table of contents and in the index. Some of the songs have an additional title that also goes in the index. Each songbook contains songs for a specific genre. But I can't always remember in which songbook a specific song is placed. That's why I would like to have a common index for all the songbooks. I imagine a separate Publisher document that can import the indexes from the five songbooks. In this common index, I can see in which songbook the song is found and on which page. – When a new song is added to one of the songbooks, its index is updated. And then I can update the common index. I suppose I can give the index in each songbook a short title, to which the common index can refer. Is this possible? – How? – Where can I find a description of the procedure?
  5. If I use the “Place Command” and select one image, I can immediately place the image in the document by clicking in the page. If I use the “Place Command” and select more than one image, the Place panel will show up in the Publisher window. From there I can select the images one by one and place them in the document. About drag and drop: I can see now, that if I drop in the Publisher window I must click inside the document area. If not the image will show up in another window as I described before with examples. I do not know what to do with that window. All the same will happen, when I drag and drop more than one image. But now I know to use the Opt key. Thank you, Walt, for helping with making this proces clear.
  6. Sometimes it also works for me on the Mac. But I can never be sure. But it must never the less be a known feature and not an accident with Publisher that a picture drawn from outside can form its own window. What is the meaning of that? And back to my other question: How do I get to the Place panel? In which menu can I choose it?
  7. MacBook Air 2020. OS 15.1.1 – Publ. 2.5.7. The attached files shows: Moving the picture from outside into a Word document, where it just is placed. And the the same into a Publ. document where the picture gets its own window (named after the Picture) seperated from the documents own window. – I know how to use the Place command. But then I can not always see how the picture looks when I choose. Maybe I would preferre anither one. – Why not use a metod which I can easy use with other applications?
  8. With other applications I can draw a picture from a window outside and directly into the document. This method is most easy, when I want to select and place a lot of pictures in a document one by one. But when I do that with Affinity Publisher, there will be created a new window where the picture will show up. And I can not at the same time have this window and my document open. What am I supposed to do? Searching "Plasce" in the Help menu I can read: "multiple items can be loaded onto the Place panel and then placed, one at a time, in their top-to-bottom order from the panel or in any order you choose." But nothing is told about have to get to "the Place panel". And what about placicng one item at a time?
  9. I tried your suggested method once more and found, that af copy of the index frame by accident had been placed on a random page in the document. And then the problem was solved Thanks a lot for helping. I can see that the index contains a lot of sophisticated possibilities for those who are creating sophisticated scientific books. But that is too much for the rest of us, who just want an alphabetical list of the content. Just an alphabetical TOC. With Adobe InDesign these two were one tool. And – by the way – thanks for the manual. I am looking forward to study. Kind regards Ove Steen
  10. In the document (a songbook) I have deleted the text frame where I had an index. But the list of subjects still exist. If I go to Window menu > References > Index, I can see a list of the song titles which I have given an insert mark to show up in the index, which I had before. Now I want to reestablish the index in my document. I make a new text frame in the songbook where I want the index to show up. I click in the frame. I go to Text menu > Index > Insert index. Result: "Cannot insert multiple indexes." What goes wrong?
  11. In my document (a songbook) I have af number of titles with index marks. Unsatified with how it looked I deleted the inserted index. When I will insert the index once again I am told that I can not have not more than one index. I don't want to create a new index. I just want the existing index to show up once again. What should i do?
  12. Here you are. I got some text from Wikipedia, which I converted into plain text with TextEdit. I took my diary and emptied it for my own text. I copied the Wikipedia text into the empty frames, where Normal already was selected as paragraph style (Arial 11). Thats all. Please explain the result. A don't try to scale frames. I leave them alone. Document trial.afpub
  13. But all these unexpected and unwanted effects should not happen. They have no purpose. It is in my oppiniom an irritating bug in the application.
  14. The document is a diary I always create after a long holiday. I create the new diary by making a "Save as" from an earlier similar document with the purpose to use the same characteristics so as the paragraph styles and charactar styles. I delete the old text and put the new text into the existing frames. If I need more frames for the new text I create more frames the usual way. I am not talking about scaling of the text frames. I am talking about the strange behaviour of the text size, which comes up before I eventually create more frames.
