I'm not sure if this is an Adobe Bridge bug or a Publisher bug, or a Photo bug. I have my Adobe Bridge install set to open images in Affinity Photo as the default. And that works fine. However, if I select and hold down to "Open with Affinity Photo" it opens in Publisher instead. It only started doing that very recently. I tried "Open with" pointed at some other editors and it worked fine. It only makes the error to open in Publisher when Photo was selected. Running Mojave 10.14.5 Publisher Beta 1.7.0.384 Photo 1.7.0 Adobe Bridge 9.0.3.279

Cool. But the pre-launch discount email also says it's 20% off and reads like it's some special deal that's only good for pre-launch. So the discount at launch in the AppStore is for sure 20% off the regular? And, when is it supposed to be in the Appstore? I want to keep all 3 of my Affinity purchases in the Appstore and want to go ahead and move forward with an all Affinity suite. I've also got Appstore credit I'm going to use on this. The email says the pre-launch purchases can be downloaded on this coming Wed the 19th. Will it be in the Apple Store then too? I think my beta is still launching, so I can get by with that until it's killed. The specials also include 5 RetroSupplyCo fonts. Will the initial AppStore launch special also include those fonts in the deal?

I know. I'm firmly in the Affinity camp. I was just frustrated earlier after spending the last couple of days trying to get Pages to format something correctly. And the Apple store keeps cutting off the bottom of my pages when viewed on iPads. There's more that hasn't gone well too. Was just venting some frustration. I'm very much looking forward to completely switching over to Publisher, to be honest.

Here's a slight rant... but somewhat related. I needed to layout a paperback book that I wanted to publish on Amazon in print, as Kindle, and in the Apple Book store. Nothing too complicated. Photo cover, and a photo for each one of the chapters, etc. Basic novel layout. I didn't want to undertake it with Publisher because it was in beta and I wasn't completely familiar with it yet. My InDesign is expired and I've deleted it already. So, I decided to just do it all in Apple Pages. It seemed easy enough, had some Apple store publishing built-in. The few things I've done in it were pretty easy, etc. Several weeks later... I've had nothing but headaches with Pages. Nothing intuitive. Issues that I can't resolve without deleting and starting over. Formatting problems, etc. Has anyone used Pages for a book project before? Is it really this bad, or likely user error? If it is actually this bad, is Publisher much better for book layout with flowing text that you're going to publish in print AND as epub/iBook, etc.?

I think I'd rather keep my Publisher purchase with my Designer and Photo purchases within the AppStore. The pre-launch price is only $5 more than the beta discount. Does anyone know what the launch price from the Apple AppStore will be? If it's only $5 more than the beta discount, I'll just buy it on launch day from the Appstore.

I bought and update my Affinity Photo + Designer through the Apple Store. If I buy the beta launch special from the email, does that mean my Publisher install won't be updated through the Apple Store like my other Affinity apps?

Curious... since Publisher for the desktop isn't even in Beta yet... does that mean Publisher for iPad is WAAAAY off? Or, is it likely Affinity is, or will be developing the desktop AND iPad versions at the same time?

First off... I resisted buying Designer for the iPad. I have it for the desktop and haven't really used it much. Nothing against it, but I just don't do much vector drawing in general. However, I bought this anyway and am so freakin' impressed! Very well done interface and intuitive. Combined with the Apple Pencil.. this may be just the vector drawing app I needed, but just didn't know I needed. It actually inspires me to take another stab and vector drawing! The only feature I can think of that would be nice, is the same one that would be great if the desktop version had... a vector trace tool similar to what Illustrator has and I believe Freehand had as well. Where you can select a raster image and convert it into vector art for editing Otherwise, very pleased that I ended up buying this. Thanks!

It's kind of baffling how indignant, angry, and impatient some are with this. Personally, I'd rather they take their time and get it right. The iPad Photo launch was pretty bumpy to be honest... so I'm betting they're making sure this thing is fairly rock solid before anyone even gets to play with it. I'm cool with that.

I'm actually just doing it with Adobe Bridge instead... but it'd be cool if you could do it right within Affinity... iPad and desktop installs

Is there a way to edit EXIF Metadata for a TIFF on export from Photo? I think I know the answer to this question, ie. that it's not possible. However, I see that there's a switch to toggle to embed metadata on export to TIFF so I wondered if maybe there's a place to edit it. Looks like I can add/edit EXIF Metadata using the iOS photo app called Filterstorm Neue (which I already own) but I thought I'd see if maybe I could skip the extra step and just to it right inside Photo instead.

Here's a bit of an ignorant question... I've got Designer already. Haven't used it much at all. I bought it mainly to eventually replace Illustrator. Only, I'm not really much of an illustrator. I only have these apps because sometimes I need to design a logo, or edit other files sent to me. Not all that often, really. So, I was just messing around in Designer and it looks like you could basically layout a brochure in this no problem, and export a press-ready file. And, I imported in a 25 page PDF file with graphics and text heavy. Designer did an excellent job of allowing me to do pretty most of the editing on it I imagine I'd ever need to do. Can Designer basically be used for most of the bread and butter type print layout stuff? I don't see that much it can't do... other than the text formatting seems a little basic. Again, I haven't spent much time with it... but on the surface Designer looks completely formidable as a print layout application. Is that correct? Has anyone used it for that, and are there any serious pitfalls using it in that capacity? Mostly asking to see if this might get me by on it's own while waiting for Publisher.

Yes, but that was back in December and there were some mutterings on the iPad threads about it. Thought I'd check to see if anything had changed. Sorry (notsorry) if that bothered you.

I don't really need InDesign at the moment... and I believe that pretty much every file I've ever created in it... was exported as a PDF for print. So, as long as Publisher will let me open and edit those somewhat, I'd be perfectly fine with that. Just wish it would come sooner than later, so that I can start learning it. Is there a beta on this yet?

Yeah, I was hoping someone would chime in and say, "Just be patient! Publisher is closer than you think!" After a clean install of High Sierra and trying to get rid of as much legacy stuff as I could, I really don't want to install old Java just to run InDesign... but maybe it's not so difficult to uninstall when I'm done. I'm not going the Quark route for sure. There's a reason I abandoned it for InDesign a long time ago. Likely just take your advice and reinstall just InDesign w/legacy java... and maybe rent InDesign if necessary. Thanks for the the info and suggestions.

Thanks! Do you know if Publisher is supposed to be able to open native InDesign files? Most of anything I'd ever need to open was made in InDesign from the CS5.5 suite. Has there been any word on how to get on the Publisher beta when it's ready? Also, I haven't used Quark in a VERY long time. Honestly, I didn't even know it still existed. Had assumed that InDesign had killed it. Worth looking into again? Edit: never mind... at $849 for QXP, I'll just rent InDesign when I need it, and wait for Publisher

Well, I finally deleted/unintalled my entire CS5.5 install. Have gone all-in with Affinity Photo, Designer, and Photo for iPad. Needed some file management and researched for half a way... until I discovered the Adobe Bridge component (that I like) is actually free. So, that leaves InDesign. I don't need it immediately, but will soon. I was going to have to install some legacy stuff onto High Sierra just to run half of my Adobe stuff, and decided to pull the plug on it. If Affinity Designer isn't even in beta yet... that means we could be looking at at least 6 months to a year before roll out? Is there an iPad version of Publisher that's also being developed? I suppose I can just pay the Creative Cloud monthly fee if I really have to have InDesign right away, but has anyone discovered any good InDesign alternatives that will open InDesign files.. just to get by until Publisher drops? Will Publisher also have a web layout/design/html feature set as well?

When resampling from lower res to higher res in Photo, which is the preferred or generally accepted best method of the 5 choices? ie. Nearest, Biinear, Bicubic, Lanczos 3 seperable, Lanczos 3 non-separable? And which is considered the best resampling method for down rezzing images from print quality to web presentation? I remember Photoshop used to have one that was best for going up from lowres and one that was considered the best for downsize. Which is it for Affinity? Seems like I remember is was Bilinear going up, and Bicubic going down... but I'm not certain that's correct and I'm not familiar with Lanczos. Or, if there's a preferred way in Affinity that's different than Photoshop for resampling.

Just wanted to say that I have to give it up to Affinity lately. I’ve been editing RAW images in Photo on the iPad for over a week. Maybe 3 dozen edits start to finish and haven’t had a single crash or glitch at all. Every function I’ve used has performed without the slightest hitch or issue. iPad 10.5 iOS 11.2.6 Bravo

Hi, I was editing some images on the iPad yesterday. I'm trying to force myself to use the iPad more for photo editing because I'm tired of doing a quick iPad photo edit, then have to recreate a similar but more detailed edit on the desktop... double the work. I've grown increasingly more trusting of the Photo app in general. I've had some "serious edits" done solely in Photo on the iPad... printed large and was happy with the results and accuracy. So, back to my question... I was editing about a dozen images yesterday in Photo on the iPad. They were all RAW images, shot with nearly the same settings of basically the same subject matter. I found myself doing pretty much exactly the same preliminary RAW edit on all of them. Is there a way that I can somehow save RAW edit settings, and them batch apply them to multiple RAW images on the iPad? I'm guessing not, but I thought I'd ask. If not for RAW, is that possible for JPG sources?
