  1. Hi, I’ve been finding reference pictures to download for some projects to trace some things. The image quality(high resolution)is good when I download them but when I bring them into Designer to use they mostly get pixelated to the point where it’s impossible to make out details.I was wondering if there’s a fix for this
  2. Hi I was trying to do a wave text from a YouTube tutorial and when I went to do a step I noticed there’s no context toolbar.I went through the settings and don’t see it.Can someone help me
  3. Yeah Im not a professional graphic designer either.I did the gradient that way due to the fact that most references have that light to dark order although they’re mostly in the synthwave style which I’m trying to avoid.I was more wondering there was a noticeable difference between the colors in the Beach letters as there is in the Club. The blues were easier to make a clear distinction between color but I don’t know if it’s clear that with the oranges.I could clearly see it when I had them in the color palette but when I added them to the letters not so much.I also didn’t want to go too dark with the bottom . Thanks. That was the look I was going for with the Beach letters.
  4. I am doing more experimenting with text and I’m not sure if this text came out right. It’s a test for a series of 80’s style lettering designs.I’m wondering if anyone has any critique as far as the gradient or the text placement.
  5. I did it on a curve instead of slant.I wanted to see how it would work with something more difficult.I don’t know if it looks right.
  6. It’s called Far Out I’m new to Affinity so this is all new to me.I’ve seen it but never actually had someone breakdown the process
  7. Hi I was looking for a tutorial on YouTube that would help but couldn’t find one that was close enough so I decided to see if anyone here could help
  8. Unlike many people I’ve seen doing drawing or design videos recently I prefer drawing out ideas rather than retracing a paper sketch.I’ve noticed a lot of Affinity tutorials showcase pre drawn work being redone by using either the pencil or pen tool. I personally prefer to draw everything out from start to finish which brings me to my issue with using Pixel or Designer Persona.Sadly Affinity doesn’t have near the variety of brushes found for Photoshop or Procreate.I’ve seen a lot of work online done by artists with raster brushes designed specifically for Pixel Persona. Ive seen people suggest using Pixel Persona to start and then finish in Designer but I’m confused how that would work if the brushes aren’t available in Designer Persona. Also I’ve asked these questions to others and the answer seems to be to vectorize in Photoshop which seems to defeat the purpose of using Affinity
  9. I’m interested in doing some hand lettering but the tutorials I found are basically showing how to use tools like the pen tool to vectorize work done on paper. I was wondering if anyone use the app for this and if they have any recommendations besides drawing it out on paper first
  10. I haven’t really seen that. It’s been hard to find videos that aren’t about using the tools, there’s way more drawing videos for Illustrator and Procreate. There also aren’t a lot of commercially available brushes for Affinity compared to other software. The two major companies I’ve seen created some of their better brushes for pixel persona which to me defeats the purpose of using a vector program.
  11. I’m completely new to this program so I was basically thinking I could draw with any tool like I used to in others.
  12. I ditched Adobe over a year ago for Affinity due to the price and the lack of compatible mobile app. I got Affinity designer recently because it seemed as close to Illustrator minus the trace feature which disappointed me but I was willing to overlook. My issue with drawing is being able to free sketch. I prefer to draw out ideas like I would on paper which I’m finding to be annoying with Affinity due to the nodes. I’m wondering is there a better way to go about this or do I have to draw in another program like procreate and import it.I have a lot of brushes I’ve gotten for Affinity and it seems like a waste not being able to use them.
