aps2011 got a reaction from walt.farrell in Quirk in NEF RAW Processing In V2 Compared with V1.10
No, regretfully, the update has not altered the situation. I have attached an example NEF. (This was just a test shot so I'm not expecting critical acclaim!)
As I mentioned V1.10 gives a much better rendition.
The platform is:
OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Home
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G with Radeon Graphics, 3701 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB
Display:
Adapter Type AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x1636), Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. compatible
Adapter Description AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
Adapter RAM 512.00 MB (536,870,912 bytes)

aps2011 reacted to Patrick Connor in Why are we using MSIX for Windows installers?
The current MSIX installers put sandboxed applications on your computer. To access the sandboxed applications we provided execution aliases, as described above. There are bugs in some third-party applications with the App Execution Alias. To bridge the gap between 3rd party apps and the sandboxed installed Affinity Photo 2, we are providing an application AFLaunch.exe that can be called instead of the 0KB execution Alias
So try AffinityPhoto2.exe first, and if that does not work, use AFLaunch.exe.
Attached file aflaunch.zip is a .ZIP file of the current AFLaunch.exe, referred to above. This should downloaded and unzipped onto your computer.
It can then be called (linked to) from withing your Photo DAM, which will start Affinity Photo 2 to edit your Photo.

aps2011 got a reaction from Gregory St. Laurent in Affinity Photo for Windows - 1.9.1
As a new user of Affinity Photo I was delighted to get the update so quickly. Moving from 1.9 to 1.9.1 was easy and everything appears to have been carried across. With 1.9 and focus stacking I was getting a 'blue screen of death' if hardware acceleration was selected (AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G with integrated Radeon Graphics). That problem has gone, I am please to report.
My expectations have been exceeded. That doesn't happen very often with software!

aps2011 got a reaction from affinityfan in Introduce Yourself
I'm Andy from south-east Suffolk (England). I have been interested in digital image adjustment for many years, starting with Photoshop Essentials 3 (I think) and then various versions of Paintshop Pro up to PSP2020. Whilst I like a lot of PSP, there are various things in the development that have started to irritate. I won't go into the detail!
I was attracted to Affinity Photo from various reviews and favourable comments about the more sophisticated layer adjustments and focus stacking. The excellent video tutorials were an unexpected bonus.
The extended 90 day trial of version 1.9 got me hooked and the half-price offer landed the catch!
As may be expected, there is a learning curve to climb, partly as there is a different design philosophy to that of PSP.
I look forward to learning more.
