  1. I am one of those designer who still tend to print ;-) waiting in line for bleed preview and better export support. Please consider that bleed should be also possible to export with other formats then PDF. As long as we need to import Affinity Designer documents in various workflows, is neccessary to have option to include bleed when exporting to PSD and EPS as well, maybe in other fomats as well. Bleed include can result in enlarged document (added bleed area, with guides maybe). Hope that better bleed support for those who print would come soon ;-)
  2. I am glad the app store version is behind the door :-) Are there plans to make our life easier by improved new document dialog anytime soon? 1) New document dialog doesn't allow me to set up the bleed 2) when artboard is created from new document dialog, margins are ignored This means that I have to open Document Setup dialog and set (margin and bleed) after use of New document dialog. So there is an extra step when creating document. I can live with that but it is a bit annoying and pro software should be efficient with no such extra steps needed 3) New document dialog and Document setup dialog should be the same or should have the same options at least.
  3. After restart affinity, I am getting the same result as You. Before restart, there was no difference in the colors (numeric values were identical). I will do screenshots next time :-)
  4. Color rendering issues Getting some strange behaviour when playing with color mixers, file attached. The background gradient from COLOR 1 to COLOR 2 has the same colors as the rectangles in the middle (color 1 left), colro 2 right), but looks different (colors should look the same as they have same numeric values) :-/ Adjusting color of gradient in background is behaving strange. Exporting to PDF is broken as well (regarding to colors). colorbugs.afdesign
  5. Thanks! THis release seems to be crash free so far on all of my files! [EDIT: not crash resistant but it's better] Option to show selected item in Layers is very usefull as well. Thanks again for Your work!
  6. Thanks for info. I like the idea of adding these adjustment directly when designing (not in photo or something like that) for many reasons, so I hope dev team won't switch them off ;-)
  7. You are welcome. I have reduced the file size meantime, as I would like to continue to work on the poster. It is surprisingly even worse then it was before (I know: Don't use it for production… but the production is best way to test, right :-) ?) . So I am sending You new version. I hope You don't mind. It can crash AD immediately after open, on save, zoom in or just try to move anything… Won't run more than 30 seconds. If You have any idea how to fix it, that would make me very happy. Do not want to move it to illustrator or something…
  8. Seems like auto crop of rasterized objects respects the bleed now. Thanks, that is huge improvement! However, I still believe that rasterizing should not crop the layer/objects at all. That decision should be left to us ;-) New wellcome screen offer to claim free Grade UI Kit seems to be broken, nothing happens after clicking it ;-(
  9. Hi. A lot of crashes when saving files with new beta. I have no this experience in previous versions. EDIT: This is probably related to a specific file. I am sending it over to @MEB. File is compressed with keka/7-zip and divided to two pieces as the solution for the dropbox file size limit. EDIT2: any manipulation with objects on poster can crash affinity, not just saving the file. but save the file crash AD at 90 % :-/
  10. If so, file size is propably ok. Tried to upload but You have 2GB upload limit on dropbox. And my file is a bit bigger :-/
  11. I can, but I have already discovered the problem: the group became somehow the layer - don't know how – but that explains the unexpected behavior. If You can send me again your dropbox link I would like to send the file anyway: I am working on concept for theather poster for print. I have 5 A3 artboards, file has 4.29 GB. That seems too much to me. There are embeded pictures, that is true, but they are repeating. Files were not so huge in my Illustrator/Indesign era…
  12. Yes, it should work that way. However I am experiencing group, which does not behave this way :-/ and single click selects the background of that group. Regrouping the elements once again fixed the problem. So, if that was just unintended exception, nevermind. But maybe there could be a workaround to control the groups behaviour?
  13. Is there some kind of Don't click through option for groups? I need to select whole group and not part of it – and it's happening all the time :-/ Thanks for any ideas, tips…
  14. Hi Meb, Yes, I have just tested all of this on new file and You are right (again). The file I was working on yesterday was created on previous beta versions and placed images were (image) not (pixel) layers. And that lead to the uwanted cropping. But I agree with Lojza that this cropping when rasterizing layers should be removed (fixed). It can quite complicate our work, mess up the bleed etc.
  15. When I move a layer so it crosses the boundaries of the canvas, it is not beeing instantly clipped luckily. If it would I won't use Photo for more than one minute :-) I am sending „screencast“ when I use stamp and erase brush on layers moved partially behind canvas boundaries and it works just fine, as expected: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0lvw17fd9e93ieh/affinitybug-clipping-test1?dl=0 On this second screencast You can see, how the layer is clipped (not good behaviour): https://www.dropbox.com/s/yizxs8w4q0zz0ds/affinitybug-clipping-test2.mov?dl=0 But I have already spotted the core of the issue: I was working with placed image and when Erase brush was used, the layer was rasterized. And areas currently out of canvas has been clipped away. So the bug I am experienced is not related to Erase Brush Tool and is already reported in few topics: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/23211-rasterizing-an-object-off-canvas/?hl=rasterize https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/18814-rasterise-crops-image-which-messes-up-the-bleed/?hl=rasterize etc.
  16. I should learn english better obviously :-) 1) I am working with native affinity photo format afphoto and the mentioned clipping has nothing to do with file format or saving it 2) it is related just to Erase Brush Tool [e]. When I move layer so part of it is behind canvas edge and then I use Erase Brush Tool on the still visible part of layer, the part of layer outside canvas is clipped. I am convinced that there is no reason for that and it makes composing layers more complicated. Hopefully I have explained the problem better this time :-)
  17. Use of Erase Brush Tool [E] on raster layer partially moved, so a part is hidden / off-canvas, clips the layer content to visible part of that layer. The part hidden behind canvas margin is clipped and lost. Guess this is by bug not by design, as automatic loss of any data can't make anyone happy :-/
  18. I am not expert on Capture One as I am currently testing it (Capture One Pro 9.2.1) as possible replacement for my current workflow in LR. But I can confirm, that Affinity Photo 1.5 Beta 4 can save yourfilename.tif and that C1 recognize the updated variant. When You hit cmd+s in Affinity Photo, You can choose from Save with layers and Save as. Save with layers would make the roundtrip to C1 real.
  19. Opening PSDs from Lightroom 6/CC in beta 1.5 seems to be very experimental :-) Files are open from LR trought Edit In > Affinity Photo Beta in EDIT: roundtrip in Capture One works smoothly even with affinity tiff layers.
  20. Not related to this beta particulary but what is a bit annoing for me for while is fact, that when creating new document as an artboard, the first artboard is not initialized with defined margins. And that in new document I am not able to preset bleed for document. For both these settings I need to reopen document settings one more time :-/ Would this get fixed eventually, so new documents can be set up more smoothly, please? And one more question: why we actually need two document types: with artboards and that one with single page? Maybe we can live just with the artboard type document (in some cases just with single artboard)? Or am I missing something about this?
  21. Other issue I have is that switching from Lightroom 6 to Affinity Photo Beta with PSD as base format and back - it slows down Lightroom to dead. Doing the same flow with CS6 works fine. But dont know how to help to improve this… source files are quite big (D800), PSD files seems to be working just fine, but Lightroom has problem with that somehow.
  22. Meb, You are correct – all the shortcuts works as You have described. How could I missed that? Anyway, I would preffer to get to the last used (visible) tool rather than the first in the group. But will see what developers think about it.
  23. Well, but other keys for tools are not working this way. Rectangular Marquee tool was last I have used. Now, switching back from Eraser tool via M key, the Rectangular Marquee tool is selected, not elliptical marquee tool. So, if not bug, this J key behaviour is not consistent with the rest of UI and those differences make affinity harder to use. So I will stick with the bug version ;-)
  24. have experienced a lot of fun and two keyboard issues with current beta: Q key crashes the app when any file is open. J key (switching from other tools to healing tools): selected tool is not the last one but next one. That force me to cycle trought tools and that sucks. Example to be more clear: My current tool is View tool. If Inpaint brash icon is on tool bar and J key is pressed, blemish removal tool is selected.I need to keep pressing J to cycle to actualy get Inpainting brush. Any shortcut should select last used tool when switching from another tool and cycle trought tools when active.
