I have hangs when exporting via export persona. Happened 2x already in 1 day. MacOS Monterey latest AD. Beachball right after pressing export. Have to force quit. Then works..

So are you gonna mark this as bug, or should I uninstall this and move back to Illustrator? I need a TIFF with bleed, and it won't export. JPEG bleed is also white.. WTF? It's SUCH A PITY I've invested hours into learning this app, instead of AI... Now I have to invest hours into learning that too. How can I do my work and make my $ with this app when I can't do simple things like a bleed export.. Don't tell me the option is there in export persona, to simply export extra white pixels.. Edit: Happening with Artboards only. A 2018 thread was found with this issue. Fixed back then, seems to be back now. please PLEASE fix bleeds as they are important for printing.

That clip to canvas when using artboards, never worked. It's ok when using with simple documents. Bleed is an important part as if you don't have it, your document will have white edges after print.. So it shouldn't be white.. If it's white, then why have it in the first place?

That's how I did it since the beginning until someone asked me why do I do this because I can use fill (and fill worked fine). Creating a rectangle isn't more flexibe, because if I make the artboard larger by a few mm, I need to change the rectangle too instead of auto filling the document. It shouldn't behave like that because bleed IS part of the document.. And on M1s people can export and color is covering the whole artboard. Also someone mentioned that it was fixed (meaning it filled the whole document before). Original thread:

I've posted this in the FAQ section but got no Mod to look at it and report it. But when you create a new artboard+bleed and fill w a color, it fills visible area only, bleed remains white. I've noticed this after latest Designer update. MBP 16", AFAIK working OK on M1 macs.

OFC it is selected, otherwise it would trim to artboard margins at export and we wouldn't see white lines. IF I draw a rectangle covering bleed area and visible area, it exports fine. The problem is with the fill artboard with color "command". It fills only the visible area and stops there.

Latest Mac OS and latest Designer 1.10.1 .. I just noticed this, today (updated today). Exported a file, mailed it, then saw some white lines at edges and was like WTF? back to Designer and artboard is covered only in visible area. Tested w millimeter values, pixel values, everything covers visible area only.

Hello. When I make a new document with X mm bleed, and then select the artboard and fill with random color, shouldn't that color the whole artboard with bleed and everything? Because recently it only colors the visible area, and when you export with bleed, the bleed is white...

Nope. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my machine, as ONLY Designer and Publisher are crashing, constantlyyyyy. PS, that I always blamed for crashing, is solid AF on Mac. Capture One, Illustrator and Premiere Pro the same, all solid. I just had another crash now. Nothing was opened, app was minimized. The issue is well known, even on Windows, i have posted enough crash threads with reports, and all got ignored. Other people posted that they also experience crashes, but no mods or devs. Don't know about older macs with dated OSs, but MBP 16" with latest OS is constantly crashing.

I always thought I was doing something wrong, and is normal. Probably other people too, or they overlook this because it's simple to "fix". But it has been around ever since the big update last year.

Yes but it will still crash. This app looks like it's still in Beta.. I've had 2 crashes yesterday for no reason, doing random things, and 1 crash just now for opening a file, then opened up OK. Oh, and plenty crashes when I close the app, randomly. I love Designer, but this is just fkn impossible. I always have to save, every 2 minutes, because I'm afraid it will crash. Ridiculous!!! It's been crashing ever since last year, and devs have done nothing. Was ROCK SOLID until then. MBP 16"

I have never seen a more unstable software than these ones.. Designer and Publisher (but mostly designer) crashes randomly for no reason. I just had a crash for bringing up an empty Designer window from the taskbar... Before that, had a crash for moving an object.. It just happens randomly. Always sending the reports, but never gets fixed. Am I missing something? MBP 16", latest macOS. The crashes were here even before updating macOS or Designer to 1.10.

Wow, Yes, converting colors did export it fine, with my recipe. Will overwrite my profiles with that option enabled. For some reason I thought Designer does that, as it converts images when placing inside the document. Also disabling Downsampling and Comp, saved me 3.5Mb, weird.. One would think it's the other way around.

IF i leave advanced features on, export with same preset, the problem goes away. But that will raise issues with some (if not all) print companies. But it't the first time that I see this happening to me. It's weird that if I play with the opacity of the individual items in the group, it works with same preset, advanced features off.. But if i touch the group opacity, grey transparent square appears....

Tried another preset, and same thing. The preset is not the issue, as the problem goes away if I change to opacity of the group to 100% and the objects inside lower to 80%. Then it exports OK. So the preset can't be the fault. Also if you open the exported file in Acrobat, it's not visible, but when I preview it with macOS preview, I can clearly see it. And in print, it shows up. So I trust the mac preview function more.

I tend to stay away from advanced features and set rasterize unsupported, as they mess up files. Some print companies aren't able to print files with advanced features on. But like I said, changing opacity on group gives faint square around the objects, and opacity on individual items inside the group export ok. With SAME preset.

These are my export settings. But the Box goes away if opacity is set INDIVIDUALLY instead of on the group. with same preset.

Ok, but why do I get the grey square after exporting? It's not showing up in designer. You can see it in the 2nd screenshot, a faint grey square (around the rhomb in the middle). Lucky I printed only a test, because in print it's even more exaggerated.

I've been having the same issue w Designer for some time, and while not fully understanding it yet, why, most of the time, if not all the time, it helps to look at the coordinates to have X and Y a full number, NO DECIMALS. Even tho I have force pixel alignment ON, and sometimes move whole pixel ON too, It still snaps to 0.5 somehow. The issues were in "mm" units in my case, as a set number of mm did not give full pixel values at a given DPI, so i had to switch to pixel units, correct the coordinates, then back to mm and work on from there.

Hey guys. If I set the opacity of the group to 75%, I will get a grey box in the final exported PDF (inside Designer, you can't see it).. The box goes away if I set the opacity of the 2 objects in the group to 75% (the group folder back to 100%), individually. Why??? I change the group opacity to not select each and every object in the group individually.. Opacity.afdesign

For sequential, I used page number :)) But yes, the other thing I do in Publisher are price tags. 4x3cm price tags, that have a Name, Price, and Article number. All 3 in separate columns in excel. So I might look into that too.

Ok, I got it now, it works. What I was missing is 1. Zooming in because the arrow only shows up when you are waaay in (don't know why) 2. After paste and resize text, holding the shift key and pressing the flow arrow (that auto generated the pages). After doing both those, it worked flawlessly, I can recreate it now. Thank you for not letting me mess around with Data merge, I am sure it will come to that too, but not today. This tip with the shift is all I need for now. (after reading this, I also found it in the video tutorial, but before I started the thread I didn't even know what to look for, seems like "flow" / "text flow" were the keywords) Thank you again.

I'm primitive in this app, as I use Designer the most, and when a task like this comes along, I struggle. I've created a text frame (empty) in the master, and then pasted 10 codes in the 1st page, but it won't "flow" and I don't know where to activate it from - or what a flow arrow is. Your document is working, pasted 40 codes and all got placed nicely. But I can't figure out what you did to that text box to go to the next page.

Will analyse both answers when I have a little time today. Thank you so far.
