  1. Trying a windows version of Publisher and the file that opens fine in macOS won't even open in Windows.

Basically the file takes a long while to load and then the Publisher windows disappears so it causes a hard crash/close.

I am using Google Drive, and discovered that when I move the file to the desktop the document loaded fine and quickly. What the heck!? This is not ideal as I want to not worry about versioning etc.

For reference I am also having a problem in the Mac file which causes my mac to lose storage space due to Affinity Publisher eating most of it away. Just when I close/quit Publisher the storage space is recovered and I can continue with my life.

    Any ideas?

  2. @h_d

just to clarify ID exports a txt file heavily tagged (which you have to tag yourself, not sure if there is an automatic tag function), enclosing text. You then replace this text file with the new one (or in my case translation) and feed it back into ID.

This is one of the things I want Publisher to have as I often deal with publications in different languages. I find myself ridiculously copying and pasting text over from textedit to Publisher, either revised text or translations.

  3. is this feature available in 1.9?

Will data merge allow me to have different translations of content?

For instance, I made a book in English which also has an equivalent in Spanish. And it will also be translated in more languages.

Copying and pasting is too tedious as this is a 100 pages book.

If data merge doesn't work for this does anyone know how to accomplish the above?

    Thanks

  4. still not sure about this....

My Mac has a little bit less than 70gb of storage space.

When I open this file in Publisher it begins taking up space like crazy, to the point that sometimes I get as low as less than 10gbs.

I could close this offending file and the space issue continues even there is no open document in Publisher.

Then I quit Publisher in my Mac, and voila, my storage is restored back to my precious <70gbs.

    Any ideas?

Is there a way to package this file with its resources?

    Thanks

  5. wow, I didn't know about the Vector Crop Tool. I had my pdf selected and after clicking on it it showed me exactly what I wanted; handles to modify my mask. Yay.

For the record I tried 'use a similar rectangle ("Layer Clipping" in the help files)' but couldn't quite make it work. The above ^ works but if you can clarify how to make the rectangle work that'll be great as I think reusing existing shapes is more of what I usually do.

    Thanks again

  6. Hi there

Would anyone know how to edit an already existing shape mask in Publisher?

I have a rectangle that is acting as a mask for an image. Suppose I want to modify the rectangle mask so I can expand/shrink it without affecting the actual masked asset, what should I do?

My process is unseating the asset, which brings the image and the rectangle at the same layer hierarchy/level, editing the mask rectangle and then nesting the asset back into the rectangle mask.

This is a little annoying and I was wondering what am I missing as this process tends to be a little lame.

    Thanks
