  1. KDP demands I make my front cover exactly  7.197 inches by 10.236 inches due to the page count and other book print factors.

When I try to create this document size in Affinity Photo, it lets will let me do 7.197 x 10.234 in, or 7.198.

If I unclick the lock button, I thought I could choose any size, but though it will let me set any size, when I click "Resize," and then reopen the document resize panel again, I see that the document is still at 10.234 or 7.198.

How can I set the document size to what I need?

  2. I realize this is not a Kindle Direct Publishing help forum, but I'm trying to upload an Affinity Publisher-created manuscript to Kindle Direct Publishing.

I get the attached "failed manuscript upload" notice, so I'm not even getting to the point of being rejected by the launch previewer. Any suggestions for where I might be going wrong? Note that I do have a minor preflight error about my table of contents, but I don't think it would be relevant. I've uploaded manuscripts with these preflight errors before. File info included in screenshot. Any idea why I might be rejected?

You could try creating a new file then use Document > Add pages from file to add just the pages you want to upload

But can't tell if that will work without knowing why what you tried previously does not work

Doing so seems to mess up the formatting. Text is moved around, etc.

  4. I want to post a publisher file I have a question about on this forum. My thinking was that I could do file - save as, and save the file somewhere else, and then delete all the pages but the two I have questions about, and upload this. But when i do this, my remaining pages are all messed up, formating wise, and my question doesn't work.

So what's the best way to post a small part of my large book project here for feedback without having it get all messed up or having to post the entire thing?

    Something  like this?

    1. add a circle in light grey fill
    2. add a rectangle, no fill, black stroke in 1pt width
    3. use power duplicate to create as many lines as needed
    4. nest all rectangle to the circle

You're using Designer for this, correct?

  6. I'd like to have a page of my book contain a circle. Inside this circle will be some lines on which the reader can write something in response to a prompt. I'd like this circle to have a slight greyish tinge to stand out from the white paper.

What's the best approach to doing this?

    Hi AntiqueFlaneur,
I'm having trouble reproducing this. What OS are you running? Windows 10? If you go to Affinity Photo Preferences, Performance section and disable OpenCL compute acceleration (on bottom) does it export correctly?

I use MacOs Big Sur. There doesn't appear to be an OpenCL Compute Acceleration option under performance preferences.

  8. Since the recent update, I've found that Affinity Photo projects save just fine. But when I try to export .pngs from them to create transparencies, the files take a very long time to export. They now take 15-30 seconds. Previously they exported in 1-3 seconds. I've attached .afphoto file that does this on my computer. Is this a bug? Thoughts?
