  1. I'm teaching myself bookbinding and am interested in doing layout and printing of books in Affinity Publisher. Here's what I mean by signatures. What sort of templates/formats should I use to make my pages come our as signatures? Are there sizing constraints? If anyone has done this I'd appreciate your advice/feedback. Thanks!
  2. That's helpful advice, thanks! But I need to modify the book for book binding purposes. So can I utilize this DP proofed version in Publisher, here I can modify it?
  3. There's an old out of print book I'd like to edit and print. Some of the images need to be cleaned up, and I'd like to make some minor formating changes and edits to the text. Of the file formats available at internet archive, what would you suggest for easy importation into and editing in Affinity Publisher? How do I make sure the text is editable?
  4. I'm looking for a quote box template for social media similar to the result found here: https://www.instagram.com/renaissancewisdom/ Rounded edges. Fade out at the bottom. Makes it easy to put in different background images to go along with the text/quote. Can anyone suggest a place where I can find such a template? Thanks!
  5. The cells of my table appear to be grey instead of white, even though I set them to be white. Why is that? UPLOADCALENDARGrey.afpub
  6. A perhaps stupid question. Am I correct in thinking that "fill" is the color inside the cell, and the "stroke" is the interval between cells?
  7. Thanks so much for your help. Can you tell me why the lower right corner has a different "thickness" of black line between the cells? BlackCalendarUpload.afpub
  8. I'd like to create tables that look similar to this in publisher. Namely, that there are distinct cells with gaps between each cell. Bonux points if I can make the table cells other shapes. How can I do this?
  9. I just uploaded another page and four images. I've uploaded the images as .afphoto and .jpg files. Take a look at the exported .pdf when they're linked as .afphoto files. Then take a look at them when you replace them as .jpg and export as pdf. Fig 173 has a line through the lower half. And Fig 175 is washed out when they're .afphoto files linked to the document. 10. Files uploaded to that dropbox. I am exporting as "pdf for print". Attached below is a screenshot showing my settings for that.
  11. Please see this thread for the back and forth discussion that lead to this. Attached are two pdfs. In the before pdf, you can see that image 140 has a discolored box in the right corner. Fig 141 also appears to be washed out, as does Fig 142. Compare to the after pdf. No box, and the other images are darker. All I've done here is delete the images from their picture frames and then replace them in the frame with the exact image. Problem solved. But this happened throughout a huge picture-heavy manuscript, demanding hours of work. The images being deleted and replaced are the exact same ones, as far as I can tell. 12. I'm talking about the thickness of the outline of the picture frame and the fig. 90 caption. The outlines of the frame seem thicker than the outline of the caption, though they both are set for 1.5 stroke, as far as I can tell. The text itself is fine.
  13. As far as I can tell, they are both set to 1.5. Attaching .afpub file below. FrameThickness.afpub
  14. I'm trying to get the picture frame and text box/caption around this picture to match in thickness. As far as I can tell, but are set to a stroke size of 1.5. But you can see that the picture frame's outline looks darker than the caption. How do I get them to match up? Is there a different way to control this besides stroke?
  15. How can I colorize a photo in a manner similar to this? Originally that was just a picture of a marble statue. How would you go about adding the design?
  16. Hu! I think you were right. That did seem to fix it. Thank you! Could you explain how you brought up that window with the minus sign that tipped you off?
  17. It doesn't seem to put the line there when I export from Affinity Photo directly as a jpg or PDF. Fig40.afphoto
  18. Anyone else have suggestions for me? I haven't been able to figure this image distortion problem.
