This may be an unusual request, but for those of us who do technical drawings could we please have a tool to draw sine waves? An option to set peaks per inch or something similar would be helpful also.

Unable to merge/flatten layers in Designer V2

Thanks for the help guys. I'll keep playing with this and figure it out. -
Unable to merge/flatten layers in Designer V2
keithrt replied to keithrt's topic in Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Tried your suggestion of doing the overall selection with the knife tool and that works. Thanks. Still looking for the flatten/merge layers option. Keith -
It appears the knife tool will not slice through multiple layers, but only the topmost layer or a selected layer. Since I need to slice an illustration consisting of multiple layers, I thought I'd have better luck by flattening or merging all the layers into a single layer. Following the instructions in the Designer help file, I am unable to find the Flatten/Merge command in any of the menus as directed by the help file. What am I missing here? Can anyone suggest a workaround?

Retaining flexibility in groups
keithrt replied to keithrt's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks to everyone for responding. I've concluded that, at this stage of the software, retaining flexibility of bezier curves grouped with other objects is simply not possible. I'll explore some of the other suggested options this weekend. Thanks to all. Keith -
Retaining flexibility in groups
keithrt replied to keithrt's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Yes. If I drag a bezier line and then add the front symbols (triangles for a cold front, for instance, as soon as the line and triangles are grouped the line becomes fixed and inflexible. On a weather map, fronts curve with pressure gradients, but I can't curve the line because it's "frozen". If you mean ungrouping the group and then curving the bezier line, yes that will work, but then I have to align all the triangles to the line and re-group them. Very tedious. it would be nice if the bezier line would retain its flexibility while remaining grouped with the other elements. -
I write a blog about meteorology. I frequently draw symbols for weather fronts to overlay on maps. If I draw a line with the bezier pen and then group it with the symbols for a cold front, for instance, as soon as I group it the line drawn with the bezier pen is no longer able to be edited into a curve with the node tool. Is this a limitation of the program or am I missing something? Fronts.afdesign

Light Mode UI for iPad
keithrt replied to mackleys's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on iPad
Add me to the list of users requesting a lighter UI. I keep my iPad lighting fairly low to preserve battery life, making the UI icons almost impossible to read. The app would be unusable were it not for the little question mark icon on the lower right that displays labels for each icon. -

One thing I've noticed while using Affinity Photo is despite using two 27" monitors, I find myself leaning in and squinting to read labels on tabs, particularly dimmed labels on inactive tabs. This might be alleviated somewhat by going to an 18% grey background instead of black and increasing the font size slightly. My eyesight close-in is still very good, but the constant squinting makes the interface uncomfortable to use.

I'm drawing a front view of a jet engine. Most engine's spinners have a white spiral painted on them so ground personnel can see when the blades are turning. Anyone have a quick method of creating a spiral?
