  1. Please, please, please make a global default scale with object option!!! (unless of course it's a 1.8 feature I'm not seeing......). I feel like i'm fixing stroke widths more than anything else, on every illustration.
  2. I have a similar quesiton to the one on this thread, except that mine didn't seem to auto-recover on my 2009 mac using EL Capitan(I know, it's barely alive now in 2020). I had 4 AD windows open on because I was working on multiple drawings (and if you use only artboards the layers panel gets too hectic). So, it was late at night and I was tired and when I'd named and closed the current drawing I was working on, I closed out the application. It then asked me if I wanted to save untitled - and because it was late, i'd thought I'd named and saved every drawings. But, nope I hadn't. So now I've tried time machine and it breaks because of some other file in my system that it doesn't like. But even using Time Machine....I would still have no idea of how to retrieve the file. Where would I find it exactly. I did a search for untitled and nothing came back. I found my secret hidden temp folder with the serif files in side - found a file called PersonalBackstore.dat but it's empty and won't open on any app I have. Is there anything else I can do? Also on a side note....not sure if this is something that Serif can fix on future versions but there must be some way to set AD up so that when it asks you if you want to keep an untitled file - it actually shows you that file on screen first becasue you say no. At the moment, when you x out the application it only shows the last worked on file. Had I been presented with the actual untitled file, it might have jogged my memory as to what it was referring to. Also, on another side note. I love affinity designer, but I never make much use of the artboard and all that space because the layers panel gets clogged up. I do a lot of kids book illustrations and have to keep them in separate files - but the artboards look like they could potentially be a great place for me to work on one complete project (and avoid losing any of the work maybe). Sorry for my ramble, please help on the missing file!! (if you can :)),
  3. Thanks guys so much!!!!! Wow, I've so much to learn!! I think I'll go with the closed wing above. I don't actually think it looks too awkward really. Thanks again!!
  4. Thanks! That worked great!! Wow, so much to learn!! I applied an inner shadow to the bird though that somehow seems to not be applied to that section of the wing....is there a way to retrieve that using winding on the fill? Thanks again!
  5. Hi, i'm just wondering if there are any best practices that would help organise layers and artboards in large projects? I'm currently working on a childrens book and trying to figure out whether it's better to separate out every drawing into a separate file, or to put them all in one file using artboards. The problem with I'm finding is that if I do artboards, the layers panel seems to get overloaded and AD sometimes seems to randomly group sections of one drawing to sections of another (I'm guessing it's just the way I'm incorrectly trying to use AD). Thanks.
  6. Just to clarify - this section is the one that i'm referring to. The shadow effect is behaving wierdly on one section. I also had to create a random white square to fill in the blue space on the wing and make it white because the white fill on the bird left a gap that showed the background.
  7. Hi, thanks for the reply. How would I send you the file? Export the artboard as an svg as opposed to a png and send you that? Thanks.
  8. Hi can you possibly tell me why I have part of my background showing through on this dove in Affinity. If you look at the wing of the dove, the blue background is showing through in a really weird way. I know how to get rid of the pencil line (please ignore the pencil), but the blue on the wing from the background is really baffling me because it's not part of the group, and it's further down the layer chain as the background. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the endpoint on the wing attaching itself to another part of the dove. I've tried breaking the endpoint to make sure there's no join, and also tried to make sure that while the bird is a group layer, it's attached correctly. Thanks.
