  1. No worries, thanks Patrick. I see what you mean about the hardware acceleration. However, that has been disabled (in AP) from the outset; in fact, if I do try to click on the hardware acceleration button I get a pop up which says "Unsupported machine configuration: Hardware Acceleration requires Windows 10.0.19042 (May 2020) or newer and a modern GPU. Your current operating system is [MS] Windows 10 Home (version 10.0.19042." That doesn't make any sense to me. I've checked and I'm all up to date on Windows updates so far as I can see (looks like I'm up to windows 10 version 20H2, installed in January this year). I will check out the 1.9.1 beta. Thanks
  2. Thanks Mark, I'll try that. I'm running a NVIDIA GeForce GT720 2GB. UPDATE: windows 10 appears to have removed the hardware acceleration option from all of the menu items in the control panel, and I'm not happy about doing it via the registry. I uninstalled 1.9 and then reinstalled it, thinking that perhaps the LUTS (there were quite a few) that I had imported was causing AP to slow right down, or perhaps the Nik collection that I had added as a plug in. However, even on the reinstall it is outstandingly slow. Sliders still won't work without significant lag, clicking on the LUTS tab in the adjustment column results in a minutes long freeze. So.....1.9 is not working for me. I'm back to version 1.8.5. Disappointed, as this is the first time I've had any issue with AP along these lines.
  3. I've installed 1.9 (Windows 10, 8 GB Ram) and am having to wait a good 8 to 10 minutes for the LUTS that I imported (via the adjustment section of the Develop persona) to load up before they can be applied. Also, none of the adjustment sliders are moving smoothly, they are reacting a good 5 seconds after I move them meaning that there is no real control over what one is doing. Previous version was not like this.
  4. I'm having a problem that other users have previously identified, namely raw files brought into AP are appearing extremely underexposed and dark. In particular, this has occurred with the cr2 raw files from a newly acquired Canon 5D Mk IV - the file are coming out (i.e, when opened in AP raw persona) extremely dark, far too dark. I don't seem to have the same problem with raw files from my 5DSR or 80D. I've done nothing differently to what I've been doing in previous years in terms of work flow. Am using AP version 1.8.5.703. Clearly I am not the only one with this issue. I am not even bothering to use AP for these files because even with bringing up exposure, lightening the raw file, etc, it still doesn't look quite right. So.......am back to using Lightroom.

Affinity - PLEASE FIX THIS.
  6. Thank you, thank you, thank you. That was indeed the solution and now all is fixed. Thanks so much for your assistance, I really appreciate it.
  7. Howdy. I'm very much beginner. Using Affinity on PC to restore an old photo. Was going fine, spent about 1.5hrs getting rid of specks etc. THEN, suddenly I hit a button and the whole pic gets overlaid with squares, as per picture below (original also below for comparison). And I cannot turn it off. I can still see the image underneath, just. The overlay stays even when I hit save and close the file and then re-open it. There must be some way to turn it off, but I've spent so much time fixing the photo before this happened that I cannot afford to lose it all. Could someone please help. Many thanks. Z
