  1. Hi ShagStudio, Could you upload the Affinity Designer file, please? I'd like to see if I can replicate the problem also. I do not have AD at work (the system is too old), I will be able to pick this up at home in AD, in approximately 6 hours, it's 14.05 local time here in NZ. Paul.
  2. Hi ShagStudio, I have the same problem opening it in Adobe Acrobat Pro on my Mac, it opens fine in Preview, though. I tried opening it in Adobe Illustrator and discovered that the page height is too large for Adobe, other than that I'm not sure what causes the white out! I re-saved the file as a PDF from Illustrator, which views OK in Acrobat except that the page height is too small to accommodate all the design. My PDF is attached. Paul.
  3. Hi sheri, welcome to Affinity Forum. I am a graphic designer with a strong pre-press background. Would you be able to upload the AD file you are needing to export? Without actually seeing how your file is constructed, I'll assume that there are no special 'effects' in it that might rasterise when exported. For text frames & art text, it pays to convert them to curves prior to export. I work with Adobe Creative Suite, CS5 for my employer - InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator. I have found that the best way to retain the vector paths in AD, when exporting for Illustrator, is to export to PDF. Having said that, if I have applied any raster filters, shadows, bitmap fills, the vector shapes end up being rasterised! Best regards, Paul.
  4. Hi PaulW, I am using the paid version of AD, so downloaded the latest trial version to see if the same thing happens to me. I am unable to replicate this problem, screen shot attached. Do you have 2 trial versions installed side by side? Regards, Paul.
  5. Hi xadz, I was hoping to see if I could alter the way the .ai file is imported, did you try it as a 'transparent' background? Also, have you tried the flood select tool (similar to the magic wand in PS) to select the white background for clearing?
  6. Could you upload the .ai original file, please? What version was it created in?
  7. I've also used a drop shadow layer effect, made into its own layer, so that it can be manipulated independently of the layer above - for example, to distort it to give it a more natural looking 'perspective' effect. A feature like this would be great in Affinity.
  8. Hi Peter H, Are you referring to Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo Beta? I've tried replicating what you've described with both the 'Art Text Tool' and the 'Frame text Tool', in both apps, but to no avail. My screen shots are attached.
  9. Hi, I'm Paul Bravery and I'm a long time user of Serif software (PagePlus, WebPlus & PhotoPlus) since the 1990's until I ditched Windows XP 3 years ago. I now use both GNU/Linux (Linux Mint) & Mac OS X (Yosemite) at home and have been using Mac OS since 1992 in a production environment (v7.7.5-10.6.8), beginning with Adobe Illustrator 5 and now using Adobe CS 5. I'm really pleasantly surprised to see Serif enter the Mac platform after being so strongly Windows-centric! :D
  10. Will it be possible to import legacy InDesign files directly to Affinity Publisher? It would be a massive deal maker, if so.
  11. @mrfearless47, I use an Intel MacPro at work, running Snow Leopard. As a result of this, I can't use Affinity Photo (quotes are in for new gear running Yosemite). I have exported to TIFF and printed to our printer from Photoshop at work & the TIFF was successfully exported with the FOGRA 39 CMYK profile, which is the profile used in my environment. This file printed just as nicely as the original file. The printer is a PostScript Fuji Xerox 700 DCP laser copier/printer with a bustled Fiery RIP. As soon as we upgrade our gear, I'll be able to test printing directly from Affinity Photo.
