  1. Just chiming in here; looking for updates. Still having grid issues. Creating the documents on desktop doesn’t seem to circumvent this. Creating a 1” grid on desktop and opening on iPad still gives a .853 grid if the dpi is over 300. Happening in both current versions and beta. Stay well and stay positive guys. - Best, Rob IMG_0380.MOV
  2. @walt.farrell looks like this got moved from suggestions to bug reporting! - Maybe it is an issue after all. - Cheers Walt, thanks always for the insights!
  3. Also, I'm confused - Isn't a Pixel layer a Layer? - I realize that Vector layers have different characteristics, but are they not both parents in their own way? - Each are containers for a particular type of data. Are you saying that this problem is the result of some kind of object identity crisis within the app? - The way these object properties have been coded? or is it simply the result of how they behave with one another?
  4. Walt, if you watch the clip again look to the lower left. I lay into the deselect button over and over again and it still will not get it to the state you are describing. I never had this problem in V1. I'm aware of the procedure, and was always able to deselect the layer and add a new layer or object without it becoming a child to any possible parent. It was very comfortable. - That being said, wouldn't this mean that the behavior in V2 is undesirable and disruptive?
  5. Hi all! Hope everyone is doing well and feeling good. I'm really enjoying all the new additions to the Beta builds. Thank you for everything you guys are doing. Before posting this here, I searched in both the bug reporting forum and this one. I couldn't find it posted. It isn't a critical issue, and is not related to new features, so I'm leaving it here. Feedback: Whenever a vector layer is present in the layer stack, adding a new pixel layer places it as a child layer of the vector layer even if the vector layer is not selected. I keep thinking that I'm not deselecting the vector layer, and that this might be the problem. However, I've tested it several times and it seems that no matter what I do, when I add a pixel layer expecting it to be placed at the top of the stack, it keeps getting added to the vector layer When I add new pixel layers they are usually unrelated to whatever is going on within a vector layer. When I use vector layers they're mostly intended to isolate a group of curves from the rest of whatever else is going on in the stack. Occasionally, I want to add notes or an overdrawing to a project so I often opt to add pixel layers in advance as opposed to letting the assistant do it as I begin to draw. It gets a bit irksome after a while, as I repeatedly have to fetch the new layers and bring them out of the vector layer in order to keep the project organized and orderly. I don't really like this behavior, as it's a bit unexpected. Is this by design, or is it a bug? I can't be sure. It's just something that keeps coming up for me. I don't remember this being the case in V1. This is happening in both 2.0 and 2.1 Beta builds. Important Note: This behavior does not happen if there are pixel layers resting above the vector layer. If a pixel layer or other item such as an adjustment or filter layer exists, the pixel layer will usually be added as expected barring any user error on my part. RPReplay_Final1680307540.mov Keep working hard guys. Take care.
  6. lol - nothing I can’t believe I missed that. Gotta slow down. Thank you Loukash.
  7. I couldn't help but read through this thread. There are rumors that a 15 inch model may be in the works. - I'm imagining a future where iMacs replace Wacom screen tablets. Can you imagine drawing with an apple pencil on a 27inch iPad/iMac type thing? iDesk? Mac Desk? something along those lines? I actually really love how micro you can get with everything on Desktop, but not being able to use my fingers....and way that current tablet pen nibs have that little bit of travel upon initial contact? - I bought a pen tablet for my desktop, but just couldn't put down my apple pencil. V2 just keeps getting better, so - I've no real desire to make a switch. Wondering if there will come a day when the two become one. It feels as though iPad OS and Mac OS are constantly undergoing some kind of convergence. They MUST be headed in that direction. - lol man I hope so. It'll be pretty rad.
  8. Sean, is this adjustment limited to Vector Persona or was it implemented in Pixel Persona as well? I'm wondering how this will effect pressure sensitive brushes and shaders in Pixel Persona.
  9. Dang. This is unfortunate, but I've got to admit its fascinating. So many questions! - Alas, It sounds like you guys have your hands full. I hope you guys can get it sorted well. Take care! I'll be looking forward to all the good stuff coming down the pike!
  10. Hey guys, hope all is well! I ran into a strange behavior on iPad last night that I thought I'd share. I'm on 1.10.3, Late 2020 iPad Pro 12.9, using 2nd gen apple pencil. iPad running OS 15.1, M1 Mac running Monterey 12.0.1 So, I was working on a drawing using some vector inking brushes I made. The size variance of the brushes is set to 100%, and the brushes were designed to produce very fine tapered points. Everything was going fine until suddenly I started getting really strange results from my strokes. No matter how lightly or heavily I touch the screen with the pencil the initial input value appears to be stuck at the exact same value/percentage which indicates to me that the error/bug is consistent. The ends of the strokes didn't appear to be affected, and I was able to produce a variety of values at the ends of strokes. Only the initial contact/input seems to be affected. I'll attach a video I took of the behavior below, as well as video of a test I ran using my iPad to draw on the M1 Mini in Designer. Here are some notes regarding the testing I performed. 1. At first I thought it might have been either my own hand or the apple pencil. So I opened up a few other apps like procreate and Vectornator and tested it out. The behavior was not successfully reproduced. 2. I went back into Designer's pencil settings, reset the pressure curve, and tried to produce the behavior again. The behavior was successfully reproduced. 3. Then, I opened up the 1.10.3(1.10.19)beta and tried again. The behavior was successfully reproduced. 4. After this, I wondered if the phenomenon was isolated to the iPad versions of the app, so I opened up Designer on the M1, hooked up the iPad and recorded. The behavior was not successfully reproduced; input from the Apple pencil appeared as normal. Thank you for your time. Keep at it! RPReplay_Final1636240277.MP4 RPReplay_Final1636240775.MP4
  11. I figured they trimmed the fat there as well. I was just posting the question to see if any mods or devs catching sight of this post had any hands on knowledge of why it was left out. It seems like a small thing, but perhaps it amounts to quite a bit more than I imagined. I was shocked not to find it in Publisher. It seemed to me to be a prominent and distinguishing feature of AP. Still, like I said above - not a complaint or real problem, more like a minor mystery. Very curious about it. - I solved the issue this afternoon. I just remade the brush set in AP assigning the tools to the brushes as desired. Exported to Publisher and carried on. Good times!
  12. I'd also like to add this question to the conversation; why isn't the assign associated tool option implemented across both Designer and Photo? - It would be just as useful in Designer's pixel persona!
  13. I did try this, the behavior persisted until I went into Photo and set the associated tool for each brush, exported the new brush file, and installed it in Publisher. Still however, the mystery of the missing “ set associated tool” menu remains. Thank you for the reply!!!
  14. Yes, this may have something to do with it. I will test pre-installed brushes tonight to see if the results are consistent with your video. Thank you for the reply and attention!
  15. Hey guys! Hope everybody is well. So, I've been working in Publisher a lot lately experimenting with the capabilities of Studio Link. I ran into a behavior, that I don't exactly think is a bug; I'm just a little confused about it. I'm in Photo persona painting a sketch that I drew out, and as I use my brushes, they will randomly become associated with a particular tool. The frustration sets in when I want to break the association. For example, I have a custom watercolor brush that I want to use with both the paintbrush tool and smudge tool. As soon as I began using the brush with the paintbrush tool, its associated tool was set to the paintbrush tool. When I switch over to the smudge tool and try to select it, because the associated tool has been set, it jumps back to the brush tool. Through some experimentation I've discovered that I can break the associated tool behavior by pressing the alt key while selecting the brush. However, when I open the brush settings in order to go in and change the brush's associated tool setting, the drop menu in the brush's editor does not appear. Was this a conscious decision on the part of the team, or am I missing something? I tried too look up the solution in the help manual, but couldn't find information that was helpful. Any suggestions or knowledge on this would be great! Not a huge issue - more like a minor mystery. Cheers!
  16. @stokergThanks again. Downloaded 1.10.3 update this morning and drew/worked for a few hours in the park this morning. No crashes or anomalies to report. Swift work! Cheers!
  17. Hey guys! Hope everybody's doing well. I've seen posts in several online groups about working with Apple's sidecar lately, so I decided to film a video on the topic. I've been asked about it several times in the past, but never really got around to really exploring it until now. In this session, I go through the setup, talk about some of the settings and options, and talk a little about my experience with it as I draw a simple little scene. Enjoy!
  18. @stokerg Thank you. You guys are the best. I'll hang in there, and switch over to desktop for a while. I was able to replicate this issue on several different projects. The interruptions made things a bit difficult! Good luck!
  19. @stokerg If you're not able to reproduce the bug/error at the file level, could it mean that it is happening at the app settings level? Something in the settings that is causing the behavior? Would you like to take a peek at my app settings? Something having to do with the apple pencil?
  20. @stokerg Yes! The thumbnail disappears. This is a symptom of the bug/error. It suddenly disappears. This happens at random. I'm on Late 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 inch. I've tried resetting ram etc. Keeps happening.
  21. Just wanted to chime in and say I've been having the same problem since the 10.2 update. App has been crashing repeatedly for the past several hours. Working with very simple curve and color objects, iPad 12.9 inch. Suddenly, and repeatedly, I cannot access the contents of random layers. They will not respond to my taps with finger or pencil. After this happens, it's only a matter of time before the app crashes suddenly. The behavior is exactly the same as that which is posted in the video above. I took a video of my own example and will attach it below. You can select the layer by swiping, but if you attempt to unlock, toggle visibility, or edit fx on the affected layer, it will crash the app. This behavior happens no matter what project I'm working on. Good hunting! RPReplay_Final1634476886.MP4
  22. Hey guys! I hope everybody has been doing well. Nice to see all the awesome and intersting work on these groups lately! Well, I finally finished my latest tutorial! It’s a vector illustration tutorial that focuses heavily on vector inking tools and techniques. It has a lot of basic stuff in it that I’ve already covered in other videos, but it also has a lot of things I’ve never talked about before. I hope it will help beginners as well as experienced users! Check it out and let me know what you think if you get the time!
